Ninjam doesn't measure anything in seconds. You have to think in terms of beats. One interval has "n" beats. One minute has "n" beats. These are "BPI" (beats per interval) and "BPM" (beats per minute) respectively.
The "latency" is the way NINJAM works - all playing is aligned to the interval, so it's in time. If you have four bars of four beats (16 BPI), every one can play in time.
Unless you're on a local network or live within a few hundred miles of each other, internet latency will be painful.
