I just bought this plugin and am really loving it! Besides being a non-specific vintage compressor, it has a few tricks up it's sleeves that are way cool. The internal parallel compression controls offer a HP filter that only affects the dry uncompressed signal so you can not only restore some dynamics, but also brighten things back up a little with filtered dry signal.
The controls for saturation are done quite well too. There are level controls that add saturation only to highs for smoothing, and another for full spectrum saturation only when the threshold has been crossed. I'm setting up an acoustic drum template using it, and when I got to the room mic and tweaked around with Presswerk, the level of detail in the drums suddenly popped.
I did this quick and dirty test with it to see what it could do with slamming busy drums. I also have it on my guitar and bass for the test and in particular I liked the result on my 5-string bass.
