I'm very new to Reaper and would appreciate some help as all of you seem so very well educated on recording.

Currently, I mic my amp into a Tascam US-122 interface. I recorded 4 tracks today and rendered and there are a couple of issues. (1) Have to CRANK the volume to hear the recording and (2)there's a ton of noise, sounds like it's been recorded in a tin can. I've read some threads on ASIO and did DL'd it. However when I use that as my default under 'audio devices' I can't record, there's simply nothing being recorded. The only choice I seem to currently have is where it defauls to "direct sound".

Could someone at least give me some good guidance on this? And a decent set-up?
