In particular I was confused about command-S/"save" and how that was apparently activating the changes but not permanently saving them, as it would with JSFX audio plugins. Using the + button to actually save a new preset was an extremely simple-but-not-obvious answer I've been looking for for embarrassingly too long!
(How were we supposed to know or guess that? I never saw it in the video tutorial that I printed out and scoured through. I guess it's more akin to saving the settings on a plugin rather than saving the plugin itself.)
