Steinberg UR22 had an issue with some wifi devices, similar symptom that I noticed on my laptop (it also happened with my desktop when I had a wifi adapter card at one time). Try disabling the wifi adapter in device manager temporarily.
This is a bit of a stab in the dark, but it reminded me of that UR22 issue.
Anyway if disabling the wifi adapter works, you can use a USB wifi adapter, one which won't interfere with the device. I have the name of one around here somewhere...or rather my friend who has that laptop (and the USB wifi adapter that I used with it) will be able to tell me which USB wifi adapter worked without problems with the UR22. So that would be a possible solution.
