You're both correct. Here's my perspective as a hobby-level user.
If I have what I believe is an SWS-related issue, I come here first and GTS on the forum (site:forum.cockos.com "search-text"). If that works, great! If not, then what?
Nice to have the github link. Thanks! That's a new resource for me. That said, since there already exists a heavily used "SWS Extension Updates" thread in the forum (
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=29640), it seems logical and reasonable to me that a similar thread (por ejemplo "SWS Extension Issues") exist here.
I think it's important to confirm that the issue I'm having is a bug and to know if it's a Reaper or SWS issue, before posting a BR on github. IMO, this is the best place to do that.
Make it a sticky. Ask OPs who confirm SWS bugs to then post them to github. Keep the noise level on github down.
Case in point: Justin's comment that this could be a joint issue. Best found out here before posting to the SWS github site.
EDIT: There's also the SWS host site (
http://www.sws-extension.org/). As a newbie, where am I supposed to go? Why, right here, of course!
EDIT: I gave up checking the SWS host site for updates some time ago. I was still on v2.8.3. This thread keyed me in to the fact that SWS is being actively updated, and that I need to start paying attention again.
EDIT: And then there's this on the home page of the SWS host site:
Forum
You can get some support and discuss the extension in the "official" REAPER forum thread (link above). To avoid any confusion, beta versions should be discussed in the pre-release thread (
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=153702).
