Re the KeyMap file that didn't work. I recommend you re-export it. When I looked inside the ReaNote keymap I had downloaded, I saw this (which is obviously not keymap stuff):

I'm not sure what you mean here. These actually
are keymap functions (I made some pretty complex custom actions).
For example,
Ctrl-Alt-A = Select chord.
this is actually using multiple instances of "select next higher note" and "select next lower note". If you build a giant chord with like, 50 notes, it won't work.
