+1! Or even better: Each midi item is placed as a midi-file in the project directory just as the wave-files are?
I remember that I once accidently removed a midi item in my project and for some reason it couldn't be undone. If the midi items were files in the project directory and reaper just linked to them from the project they would only dissapear if I cleaned the project directory :-)
Exporting would be easy then as well as they're already there with meaning full names (track-name_date-time.mid or something like that)
I know its a pretty big one as it propably require changes of the core in reaper, but hey... it is a FEATURE request right ;-)
