You don't record anything live? So all programming or arranging pre-recorded material kind of thing? That would be a "set the block size high and forget it" kind of setup.

Forgive me for the "Is the unit plugged in?" style of question on the block size but that's a starting point in any performance issue.

The 2nd question is always: How are you controlling sample rate and block size for the system? Reaper control panel, OS control panel, or 3rd party?
A $1000 Babyface with 2048 block size works worse than a simple MOTU M2 with 1024, which is the maximum.
