Default REAPLUGS on OSX via Wine ?

Hi !

Reaplugs have no OSX build, but they are compatible WINE,

but has anyone succeeded to load them in another OSX VST Host DAW ?

I extract the .exe with WINE, and try to load them in VFX as shown here without success. There are not recognized as VST plugin for VFX

Tutorial was here : Mac Tutorial - How to Use Windows Only VSTs(.dll) on Mac OS X - YouTube

Has anyone another trick ?

Thanks !

Make a plugin that pretends to be Reaper and can host the Reaplugs that come installed with OS-X Reaper? (I have not tested how feasible that is to actually do but it is not outside the realm of possibilities.)

Reaper plugins are a vst-like format and proprietary to Reaper.

You could run Reaper along side another DAW and use a virtual device app like Soundflower to route audio between Reaper and whatever.

If you have some Windows only vst or dll format plugins, then you need to install and run the Windows version of Reaper in Wine so you can install those Windows plugins. Again, use Soundflower or the like to route audio around.

I thought there was a thread a while back around here where someone made a "wrapper" to run Windows vst and dll plugins in OSX Reaper. If I read that right then it might be easier than the above.

Not VST-like, they are VST2 plugins but they expect to be able to do some special function calls into the host. At least in principle if another host can successfully simulate those function calls, the Reaper provided ReaPlugs could run in other hosts.

@serr
Intersting tricks ! Thanks !

@Xenakios
You mean specific to REAPER host ? Because on the plugin page there is written:

Want to use some of the comprehensive FX plug-ins that REAPER provides, but stuck in another host?
The point seems to use them in another host, without restriction.

I mean using the ReaPlugs that come installed with Reaper in another host. (Where the host itself could be a plugin. And on OS-X, on Windows it would be a pointless exercise because the ReaPlugs standalone plugins exist anyway.)

Anyway, it would be a quite a lot of work to even start testing if it is possible to do, so this was more speculation than anything that would be likely to happen. I think it's best to just keep on asking Cockos to do the standalone builds of ReaPlugs for OS-X.
