Love the updates!!!
Re Toolbar Icons:
When making double/triple width, don't forget to include the spacing between single icons. So if single icons were 24x24 and there's spacing between each single icon of say, 3pixels, you need to make doubles 51x24.
To break this down would be Icon/Space/Icon = 24/3/24 for two single icons next to each other. Thus, a double has to be the total of this in order to maintain the 'grid.'
Hope that explains it good enough

Man, why can i say, you truly are s master of GUI styling.
I Will be on the donate list for sure!
One thing I would like to see is a narrow Transport bar,
Any plans on implementing that.
Any space saved is good on smaller monitors.

Oddly enough, your "poor" English is easier to understand than a lot of natively English speaking folks I have to deal with.

Mod:
The very subtle mod just adds a highlight line on the left hand side, with a *very* subtle light gradient. We read from left to right, so seeing the highlight on that side gives us a 'root' to base our vision from, marking the start and end of each vertical track. This is especially useful in our peripheral vision (big part of DAW UI/UX).
Stare at the center slider on each version. In the mod your eye/mind will find it easier to identify where each track starts and ends.
Rather than being: fader-meter-fader-meter-fader-meter-fader-meter
It's: fader-meter : fader-meter : fader-meter : fader-meter
P.S. The subtle gradient highlight is only on the track panel 'body' (ends at horizontal sliders), while the single line highlight continues up to the top of the track FX. Just a quick edit so the highlight doesn't follow the curve at the top.
Thin outlines—for the track names—aren't very well suited for peripheral vision. Solid/thick lines root the eye at the base, are easily seen peripherally, and act as a mirror to the top of the FX window (top and bottom 'book ends' around the track). Easier to group tracks visually with solid blocks/lines too. They match the dividers between FX and sends also; consistency = sexy :¬)
Two small changes that make each track 'feel' well defined and contained (from left-right and top-bottom).
FWIW, I used to be a pro UI/UX consultant for global bank/mobile brands. These are great (simple) tricks that keep the user knowing where they are within a UI, making it more usable/enjoyable in the long term. Free to completely ignore all this of course, just my 2c that may or may not be useful.
|
This is some next level real UI consultancy stuff right here, with good explanation of the 'why' as well.
Yeah, my brain/eyes like your mod a lot more. For some reason it's way easier on the eyes.

The '0' label on the volume slider should be located on the right instead of the left
|
The best solution is to NOT use a 0 label because, in RPR, fader range can be customize by user (pref -> appearance -> TCP).
So if the designer place a 0 on the MCP background, the user need to use the exact same settings.
There comes a point where the design should not take precedence over the ergonomics of the DAW. REAPER is a hyper-customizable DAW and I think the themes should try to follow this rule in order not to lose features.
I saw a lot of themes that suffered from this with examples like no fx in, no distiction between army track and auto recarm, Center transport button position doing nothing, unresizable transport bar, unresizable MCP, no global automation overide, ...

I'm one of the french beta tester and test the theme on a 4k monitor (Windows)
Looks great
I found 2 major problems
1) the mcp vertical height is too small and you get and super high extender with almost no fader course -> Blankfiles is preparing a beta 2 with some other layout and will work on a scalable version
2) The transport bar is TOO BIG! -> Same, blankfiles is on
I will take a screenshot of the 4k version when I'll be at studio

Hi and thanks for chiming in.
However, to my knowledge and experience, Windows 4k is not really comparable to how it will look on a mac -retina.
That applies for a great deal to the sharpness of used text fonts in parts of Reaper's GUI (like media item names and texts in Toolbar buttons).
But i am quite interested in how it looks for you anyway on your windows machine.

This is looking to be very very nice.
Please pardon me for wondering though: One thing I have found very useful is to have the transport bar between the TCP and MCP and to be able to drag the very top of the mixer (bottom of the transport) totally all the way down.
Sorry if this has been covered but will I be able to continue to use the Extensions, Auto color/Icons/Layout ?
I know these are specific to my preferred way of working and are not life changing but I have to ask

Is is in beta. Some people are using it. Just no general release. But, alas, I fear you may be right.
