Yeah that version, and the -git version, both require building. The -bin one is pre-built so its install is really fast.

I would close out of the package manager, re-open it and try only installing Yabridge. |

You will need yabridgectl for yabridge to be useful though. The yabridge-bin package includes both of them since it just takes the files from the GitHub releases page.

I was thinking in terms of splitting up the tasks so that only one thing is trying to be built at a time, but I see in another post the same errors are popping out anyway.

After that first step, ninja has to build 34 other targets in order to finish the yabridge build. That can take a minute or two. If you were seeing the same message repeated on a set interval, then that just means that the GUI version of Pamac does not handle the carriage return character properly (like on a typing machine, where you would slide carriage back to the beginning of the line). If you built from a terminal, for instance using `pamac install yabridge` or `yay -S yabridge`, then you would just see that x/35 count increase as the build progresses. |

Seriously though, it's almost certainly not Pamac's fault. It's just a frontend for Pacman. I'd expect any package manager could have an error if you're trying to build packages from the AUR while doing an update to the distro (or just afterward if you didn't restart the computer, etc.) |

Actually just thought of something else...I do not have WINE-Staging installed as yet, could that have caused some glitching in the installation process?
Just as an aside, the whole raison d'etre of this Linux install was to eschew all things windows (including plugins) I sort of allowed my thinking to drift here and install this JUST in case. I'm thinking I will abandon this for the moment and return to the original purpose in discovering how far I can get in 100% Linux. It's strange how we cannot seem to fully cut the strings that bind us to the past hey! Now, to find a way to fully remove all and any orphan files left behind hahaha! |

Alternatively, you could go to Package Manager|Preferences|General and press the "Clean" button, like I just did on my machine.

It's on the same Package Manager from earlier screenshots, but in Preferences|General. You'll have to sign in with your password and then you'll need to scroll to the bottom of that panel.

[ANN] yabridge 3.5.1, more editor tweaks!
This release addresses an important regression in yabridge 3.5.0 where using multiple instances of a single VST3 plugin in Ardour and Bitwig Studio could cause the plugin's editors to not work at all until you open every instance's editor at least once. Other than that, there have been a lot of tweaks and refinements to yabridge's editor handling. There's a new feature that allows you temporarily directly focus the plugin's GUI to prevent the host from stealing key presses (as Bitwig Studio for instance normally allows you to still press Space to pause and resume the transport while interacting with plugins), and there have also been a lot of refinements to how and when yabridge grabs and releases input focus.
The full changelog with a complete list of fixes and improvements can be found here: https://github.com/robbert-vdh/yabri...ases/tag/3.5.1 |

I tried out an older version of yabridge before but never got it working. Updated it to 3.5.1 today and did the yabridgectl sync and got 'Finished setting up 151 plugins using copies (151 new), skipped 7 non-plugin .dll files' . Now Reaper 6.33 doesn't even start. Crashes during 'scanning vst plugins...' dialog.
I'm on latest Ubuntu Studio. All my plugins are on an external e-Sata drive. I really need some help with this. Is there even a way to make Reaper NOT scan for plugins during start in Linux? Edit: OK, I found reaper.ini in ./config so Reaper is at least up and running again. Last edited by Pigwink; 08-06-2021 at 02:15 PM. Reason: add info |

All yabridge plugins end up under "plugins that failed to scan" in Reaper.

yabridgectrl did not throw any errors.
Reaper starts fine, rescans plugins on request but then crashes when opening an old project. yabridge.log: ...... 11:11:28 [error] 11:11:28 [error] Error during initialization: 11:11:28 [error] locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid 11:11:28 [error] ...... (many more entries of this) In terminal, Reaper throws this when crashing: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error' what(): locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid Aborted (core dumped) Last edited by Pigwink; 08-07-2021 at 02:44 AM. |

I don't get it. There has never been any problems with the locales before. I have set the display language to US English and everything else like keyboard to Swedish like I always do when setting up the OS using the GUI. Can't find anything that's missing.
What about these? locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory Shouldn't those inherit from LANG or LANGUAGE if missing? And LC_ALL should be empty when using two language system, right? I'm no expert in this... I tried 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales' and restart, but problem persists. [ANN] yabridge 3.5.2
Yet Another small bugfix release. This fixes a regression in yabridge 3.5.1 where a small number of VST3 plugins (including the new Kontakt VST3 plugin) would not resize their editor correctly. And technically SysEx support for VST2 plugins is a new feature in this release, but the only reason it wasn't implemented earlier is because I was sure nothing needed it (I was wrong).
The full changelog can be found here: https://github.com/robbert-vdh/yabri...ases/tag/3.5.2 |

Yes. Just update your yabridge package(s) and rerun `yabridgectl sync`.

Is this the place to ask Why (technically) , TAL (Native Linux) Sampler and (Native Linux) REAPER/Bitwig don't work in X or Wayland with drag n drop using the DAWs browser, who and what is responsible for this not working?
It has it own built-in browser (i'll survive) but still, curious what's up and if Yabridge can even sort/help Native plug-ins out?

Yeah TAL-Sampler indeed just doesn't support drag-and-drop at all.

So, Have you managed to get a WINEd NI Kontakt to work with DnD within any DAW? have not seen anyone mention that, using the DAWs browser
Closest i got is that it can work with Dolphin file manager, Kontakt as a plug-in run just fine though

If the DAW implemented XDND for their browser that would of course work, yes.

Why are you using a yabridge-wrapped Windows version of an app that has a Linux native version?
