Nice new features, thanks.

The pitch detect in RS5K doesn't seem to work when you replace the sample with something else, it only works with the first sample you add.

I'm not a regular user of pre-release versions, but have been following the progress of the "media item fixed lanes" feature, hoping to see it released soon. Was that intentionally left out of this pre-release?

This is from last dev, as there isnt update changelog about track lanes I think it might be there, although I couldnt reproduce anymore (I also dont have the specific project with the same configuration)

A item goes to the new lane space using Item edit: Move items/envelope points down one track/a bit

EDIT: Could reproduce! Using numpad 8 to go back up

for people curious here is what the rectified peaks looks like: https://i.imgur.com/b4IS6sJ.png (I don't embed cause it is a bit large)

-----------

render stats: I think having the project name in <title> tag and somewhere in the document can also be nice. Only folder is printed currently.

render stats HTML: there is one script tag below the table, they all have to get at the bottom before body.
Minor: Still missing Doctype and still have some <br> instead of CSS margins.

First drag-import between tracks, then mute color improvement, now new stretching algorithm.. have you devs found my Reaper-wishlist and turned it into your to-do list? You're on fire lately!

However there is some weird stuff going on.

Most of the media don't produce any sound (no meters on track) when I stretch them with this algorithm. I don't know if it depends on the type of sound, format/metadata of the media, stretching amount or a combination of all.. it just kind of doesn't work about 70% of the time.

Not sure where to begin troubleshooting. Would it help you if I sent you a minimal project?

Also mentioning in regards to the new mute coloration, I think there really should be some color options for selected items (and ideally also tracks). I already fooled myself as I had an item selected on a muted track and the selected item looks as if it is not muted and I have been wondering why don't I hear it, until I recognized the track was muted, unselected the item and saw the item turn dark. It can be especially confusing if the track is not muted but another track soloed and the meters show peaks but no sound comes through.

The feature is still in this prerelease. A lot of the underlying support code was moved into the main branch so the "* Includes feature branch: media item fixed lanes" changelog line went away, we'll re-add that for the next +dev build.

It will likely be a while before this feature is in a release build, as there are some more developments in the works.

Rendering is now deprecated in REAPER.

jk sorry, fixing Rendering via the render dialog, should not be affected, just the actions.

It is just based on the first character of the changelog line (*, #, + // branch, modifications, new things basically)

What's polyphase synthesis and how does it timestretch? Is it FFT resynthesis stretching like paulstretch? In which case this is amazing.

From the restricted possibility I had to test it, it seems to not be like paulstretch. But nonetheless might be cool. Something like paulstretch though would be amazing!

re. "recent project display":

Display Project Title
Display Project File Part Before Path
Display Full Path

I want just the project title displayed. I see "Display project title" is checked, as well as the other 2 selections.

My first thought is "I need to uncheck the other 2 options". Uncheck Part before path and it unchecks the "part before" and "full path" - but it leaves "Full path highlighted for some reason, while greying out "File part before"?

The result is what I want - *just the title* - but it's confusing that "Display full path" is still highlighted? And vice-versa for clicking on "file part before path"?

Also - "Clear recent project list" as a selection choice positioned that close to the other 3 selections makes me very nervous... this is a "set and forget" option, but someone fiddling around a bit recklessly could get in a hurry, or maybe think they need to "reset" it, or some such and wipe out their recent projects list, which could be a Very Big Deal. Maybe it should have a "are you sure? Y/N" added to it?

/Great feature, so much more legible!

Found several issues with these changes:

The pitch detection button does some weird things when changing samples from media explorer:

A similar issue happens when you have the option "Do not assign pitch, note, or channel when inserting into sampler" turned on. Pitch detection only works on the first try:

It also doesn't respond when you change samples from RS5k's dropdown menu.

The sorting function consequently also doesn't work.

* Includes feature branch: polyphase synthesis timestretching mode

This is very cool

Something's I found so far..

-no matter the stretch amount. it seems to go silent about 85% near the end of the audio item. Although that's at the 32768 FFT size. It gets closer to the end the lower the bin size

-Has ability to clip the track output quite easily with glitchy spikes and just full on "too loudness" (especially if the subdivision is high) so the output might have to be limited (but that's something the user can do I guess)

Very cool to have it though thanks!

Wooow, a time stretch algorithm based on the spectral domain and with option to change the fft size? amazing!

Actually i was testing last night all the stretching modes because i wanted to achieve the kind of stretch that sounds a bit robotic, or to say more granular.
While i have done this with other daws, i was a bit sad and surprised that i couldn't achieve this sound in Reaper. (At least to my knowledge)

The only mode close to it is the simple widowed fast, but it sounds bad when we stretch a lot the item with some metallic timbre and like there is some sample rate reduction which destroys the sound.

Then i tried to replicate what i wanted and what i have heard in some other daws with a granular plugin which sounded a lot better.
I recorded one take with the fx and some others with the simple windowed fast mode that can clearly hear the difference.

I would really love if there was some update on simple windowed fast, or another granular mode that would sound a lot better to achieve this kind of stretch effect which is not possible now in Reaper.

Examples: (the voice is from a text to speech software to create a fast example so sorry about that, but i have tried it with other sounds too and i get the same results)

unprocessed: https://mega.nz/file/EMhjhZQD#4FUKpm...fVEyLHE6la5wog

processed with fx and how it should sound, or at least close to it:
https://mega.nz/file/QQ4QzTxC#7oG-kO...Jwb84_xHEzWZv0

processed with simple windowed fast x2:
https://mega.nz/file/ZBwBWYBQ#8rJq7u...vZBLL3jZTagkIk

processed with simple windowed fast x4:
https://mega.nz/file/oAI2DYJK#Plco7Q...eONcxRgTAZlqds

processed with simple windowed fast x8:
https://mega.nz/file/gBwjHYBQ#7SDIik...otS22WmbWXScvQ

It is very clear that while stretching the sound x4 times is close to the sound i want, the quality has changed drastically and even more at x8 times.

@schwa
Here are few tweaks to make it HTML 5 valid and semantic:
https://gist.github.com/X-Raym/5a356...7c85/revisions

  • all <script> are pushed right before body (info)
  • <br> tags are replaced by CSS rules (margins)
  • doctype and html lang attribute have been added
  • semantic tags for title (h1) and infos (list instead of paragraph)
  • table set to 100% wide for readability (optional but... why not)

Thanks... we'll incorporate some of this. I'm not worried about the <script> placement as the script elements always appear after their target elements, and it's more convenient to generate the code as is.

OMG! Very cool algorithm! This is a good native analogue of PaulStretch.

By tomorrow I will release 10 albums of meditative ambient music, haha.

Great updates, especially the pitch detection in RS5K.
But gosh, that timestretch kinda had me thinking something different.
Hopefully, timestretch / pitch-shift will be added at some point to the sampler for keeping sample playback speed when playing different notes.

Might want to check out Akaizer (if you haven't yet).

Does have metallic timbre though, so maybe not what you're looking for...

Does have metallic timbre though, so maybe not what you're looking for...
Thanks nofish, i can already do this with granular plugins by changing the speed and grain size, but i would like to have this as a native stretch mode in Reaper for better and faster use, like Ableton and other daws have it.

Soundtouch is also nice and seems that it has 3 window sizes from the settings, but not at the size i want which is with closer gaps. It would be nice though if we could change the grain size in soundtouch as we can do with simple windowed fast.

Mostly I'm dreaming that hopefully will see this one day in reaper:

*regarding this old request i would prefer a new granular mode from simple windowed fast because of the bad quality
