^^ here I always use Volume PreFX to even out the vocal performance before it hits the compressors/saturation so it's more controlled and predictable. But every comp requires different automation to achieve this, so we're lacking the ability to store this kind of stuff together with the comp. You can see the automation is totally inappropriate when the 2nd comp is clicked in as active.

I usually use item take volume for this type of task and this seems to play ok with the comp system. you do the envelope on the item on the source lane and sync the comp area, the envelope gets reflected in the item in the comp lane.
Potential drawbacks of doing this way :
-you have have to go back in to comp mode for the change to be reflected on the comp lane.
-it would be nice to be able to edit the volume on the items in the comp lane, so you can listen to what you are doing, and then reflect it back down to the source lanes so it's conserved even if you decide to try some over option in the comp lane .

You can't use Razor Edits and do tilts, compression/expansion etc. on Item FX.
If Item-FX were expandable into their own lane for exclusive editing, we would be covered.

Only tested out this feature now and it is genius!!!
You see the maximum reduction as a quasi peak-hold in the mixer:

(decimal could be dropped I guess? It doesn't show decimals anyway, and the accuracy is not neccessary)
When I view it in the TCP, it looks like this:
I think it is quite large, why not just make it take away the space of the slot below? That way it will always take away a lot less or the same amount of space as the current implementation.
Even more minimal: Show a small line under the plugin slot (basically drawn over the border of the recangle) and just show the reduction max. as a tooltip when hovering over the slot (or in the slot when room).

Action "Item: Return active takes to ARA edit pool (re-pool)" bug:
It shows the take as returned to the pool, but the actual ARA content is still un-pooled.

HI
Since I installed this version all Main Sections are gone, there are only the main list and the Alt-Recording List.
Installed 6.73 official but same behaviour.
All my edited Main Sections in the Action List are deleted.
If I type in "Main" in the Action List, nothing appears.
Tried to Load saved KeyMaps they are not there!
Thanks
Bassman.

or in the envelopes window add a section "lane enveloppes" and there could be a "lane pre-FX Volume" automation lane per lane. But that might get messy

dangerous !
We just did another small project using the new lane-"swipe"-comping.
The singer is absolutely delighted and can do this with her own recording a lot more efficient than I as a producer can. (OK, she is into computer work herself, and very alert so that she knows what she did on any take...)
Hence this is a dangerous feature that can render the producer expendable.

Suggestion:
shift-ctrl right doubleclick in the smallish rectangle to sync a comping area that got out of sync i.e. re-copy it to the target lane. (or is there another similar action ?

Great ! (even though I do think my suggestion is more obvious, using shift-ctrl-right-button for the more advanced comping stuff. )
