It is colliding with other settings. And it is not working. Tried 17, 1, 999, nothing works. I apply a new value and it's showing as accepted, but after opening Preferences again I still see 16 and nothing changed in TCP either.

It does exactly what is written.
You'll find it in Preferences -> Track control panels.
Enabled will allow you to move tracks inside folders only with Shift. Without Shift you'll just reorder tracks.

The first thing I tried was selecting a bunch of tracks and shift-clicking on one of them to drag them up which of course didn't work because shift-clicking does change the track selection and only selects the track your clicking on. I had to click on one of them and then hold and press shift. Maybe use Ctrl instead of Shift?

Ah oops, it's wired up to the wrong setting ... you're unintentionally changing the gap between media items on adjacent tracks. We'll push out a fix shortly for this to avoid unexpected display changes.

And since we're seeing this very useful feature with track spacers maybe I can get greedy and ask for "zones"?

This is very useful to lock busses to the left or right and make them always visible, for example.

Unexpected behaviour:
- add some tracks
- add a spacer
- drag and drop the spacer before the first track, it works
- drag and drop the spacer after the last track, it stays before the last track and if I remove the last track the spacer also is removed


Probably bug:
- add some tracks
- add two or more spacers
- drag and drop a spacer over another, it will make it disappear


The "Insert visual spacer" menu items should be made consistent with being possible to add spacer before/after tracks.


Will you add the ability to display a name on the spacer, like a track name?

It's happening all the time in fixed lanes / comping especially, when you're working on tracks near the bottom of the project. Makes it impossible to center tracks near the bottom, forcing users to have to create 50-100 empty tracks at the end of the project to create a "buffer" or fake-bottom just to avoid this jumpy behaviour.

Possible to have a pref to disable the algo that's doing this? It's a constant fight, I imagine so many users would want an "unlocked" hand tool that lets you move the view below/above the first/last track, and leftwards into negative time. Been having to start projects 1-2mins in to create a buffer zone to alleviate the same behaviour horizontally.

Spacers at the end of the track list aren't supported, because they would not be visible.

I'm not seeing the behavior you are describing. Unless you mean you would expect to see a double-size spacer? Also not supported, consecutive spacers are displayed as one spacer.

The gif is what I see, too. Not talking about double spacers, I thought the dropped spacer should have stayed in its last position instead of being silently removed.

Hold shift after the drag begins... (ctrl also affects selection logic)

I want this too +1 would make working on the bottom half of the screen a bit more fluid

I think the MIDI dropdowns might not be updating in this pre either. They're set as None/Blank and the value from GetTrackSendInfo_Value() is 31... but I might be confused as this definitely used to work for me

Edit: Nope, I just got confused on the value there. Just audio dest causing issues still

Will this gap under the items be a default now? or can I change it back to full sized items? Because I don't really like it, specially when minimizing a track and now the item is tiny, this even without the lanes on which when on is a bit worse imho and I don't think it's needed for the spacers, but maybe it's just a bug or something else is coming with it? idk

Why is that a problem?

If I select a track and insert track I expect it to be inserted below that track and above the next track (or spacer). If I want to insert below spacer I select the spacer and insert track. At least that is how it makes more sense to me.

It works for "space" and "spacers" but not "spacer". Win11, dev0417a portable

They are parts of tracks after them, not sure it's even possible to color them in future.

After hundreds of hours I was still cautious when dragging tracks (and still missing often haha )


Is there a reason why the "below or above" indicator doesn't switch at the middle of the TCP ? Right now it seems to change at round 1/3 of tcp



Track spacer also seems to be working as expected here
