FWIW, i still think this should be optional (7.00/01 mode vs 7.02 mode). But nevermind, i'll adapt

Reposting from last release thread as it might get overlooked there:
Regarding alternate keyboard sections: Is the inteded behaviour that when momentarily setting an override to an alternate keyboard section and pressing a modifier (shift, ctrl, etc.) that override is cancelled? This makes using shortcuts with modifiers impossible when a momentary override is used. Instead the action bound to that shortcut in the section that was active before the override is run.

I noticed that one thing that works a little differently in version 7 is the "Show guide lines when editing" feature. The checkbox has 3 positions, I always had it in partically-checked mode, and it didn't show guide lines between tracks. Now it always shows guide lines when dragging and dropping an item from the media explorer, but stops showing them when I'm moving the items. I don't think it should show them at all if I selected the middle setting (partically-checked checkbox). Or at least I'd like to be able to disable the display of only the guidelines between tracks.

Is there any way to export each track lanes space in a region? I'm experimenting with using tracks lanes to work with variations for sfx, and I'd love the option to export all track lanes.

I've just ordered the manual in hard copy from Lulu and it's version 7.01, so please stop all updates at least until I've had the chance to read through the whole 462 page manual, okay? 💁♂️ 🤣
Great to see these updates, Reaper is awesome! By the way the link for the hard copy of the manual is broken from the "Download User Guide" section on the forum, here: https://www.reaper.fm/userguide.php But, I found it using a search on Lulu, it's here: https://www.lulu.com/shop/geoffrey-f...e=1&pageSize=4 Hope I get some forum points for this, as I've officially achieved my first contribution to this forum from pointing out this broken link. You can thank me later, but I'll be waiting.

Heads up that I found a 7.02 bug where a comp area edit was not possible to undo – every time I tried to undo, Reaper immediately executed a redo afterward! I had to go back a few steps in the Undo History to get out of it. Was in the middle of production... will try to recreate

Thanks for the update devs! It gets better and better.
There seems to be an inconsistency in placing spacers in the TCP depending on the track type order. If you have, for example, a track at the top of the TCP, then a folder, then another track, and you select the bottom two (the folder and track) and run insert spacer before track, the spacers are inserted correctly above both the folder and the track. If you move the bottom track up, so that now the order is track, track, folder, and select the bottom two (track and folder) then run insert spacer before tracks, no spacer is inserted above the folder. So effectively, any time that there is a track above a folder in the TCP and you select multiple tracks/folders, no spacer is inserted above the folders upon running an insert command. This is true for all insert spacer commands. I hope that makes sense ![]() |

Hmm, I'm not seeing this, the spacer seems to be inserted correctly when I follow the steps. Any chance of a screencap?

Hello, congrats on the new release, it's brilliant! Think I have a possible bug though: The 'Add lanes' option for recording overlapping items does not work with 'Record mode: auto-punch selected items'.

I see, thanks for the screencap. For the action 'insert spacers before and after tracks', the behavior is to add spacers before and after every group of consecutive selected tracks. In your case, there are hidden unselected tracks within the folders, so that's why you get spacers in the (apparent) middle of the selection. Probably the logic should ignore hidden tracks.

The behavior is intentional, although it could really go either way. Auto-punch time selection will add lanes, but auto-punch selected items will always add takes to the selected items. We'll think about whether the current behavior is ideal!

I've noticed that reaper.get_action_context() gives incorrect values when used with the new Main action section override feature. Using it for a scrollwheel script always returns -1 for the val output.

I hope this has not already been discussed. However, having had a license for Reaper for what seems like forever, I was surprised that I needed to pay for the Version 7 upgrade. I am not sure I have ever had to pay to upgrade before. Is this a new thing or have I just been asleep all these years?

I see, thanks for clarifying. I'd have thought if 'add lanes' was ticked it would do just this regardless of the record mode but appreciate it's up for reconsideration. No biggie.

Everything I'm using is working fine, thanks for the update. I was worried because of all the forum activity but it's fine on the surface level going from the last v6 to this one.

As a regular user, I and others found it easy to adjust. My issue with the 6.83 change was that is wasn’t intuitive and confusing for new users.
The simple drag and drop behavior was one of my favorite discoveries when I originally migrated to reaper. |

Hello friends! I was upset with the fact that the pan and meter values were removed in the default layout of Reaper 7. I use these values a lot during mixing...
With some changes to the "rtconfig.txt" file, I managed to return the Pan and Meter values for layouts A and B. https://forum.cockos.com/attachment....3&d=1699031074 https://forum.cockos.com/attachment....2&d=1699031020 It would be excellent if there was the possibility of having a button or a script that did this automatically, that way it would work for all users and would not need to be changed with each new update...

More importantly, how did you make such a nice, large, clear gif? And where did you host it? Every time I try to make a gif to show some issue I'm having, I get an error saying my gif file is too large and I have to lower the resolution until its barely watchable.
