Default Normalizing a track - Good or Bad - What do you think?

I have seen a couple YouTube videos talking about normalizing tracks as being a BAD thing.
What do any of you have to say about it?

Normalizing is essentially changing volume. So this is neither bad or good.

Normalizing to peak is pretty useless, because I can't imagine a situation where you don't have to bring the volume down afterwards.

Normalizing to RMS/LU is pretty useful when importing mastered tracks or loops into your session.

I make two copies of each track in a project and normalise them and also have the original unnormalised. If theres sounds in the higher volume that I like and I hear, I EQ and compress them into fruition and then mix the volume back into the track. This is just supplementing the original track, you don't have to have the track either normalised or not, why not both?
