I Saw Three Ships (Christmas acappella)
Some students of the music college music college Detmold (prospective orchestra musicians, music teachers and tonmeisters/music producer) did an acappella version of "I Saw Three Ship", an english traditional christmas song.
I did the audio editing/mixing/masterin of that piece. The whole production was made within one week from recording to the video release.
Hope you like it:

Beautiful and very professional (the look of the video and the audio mix). Nice stereo spread in the mix and very good sound IMHO.
The only tiny criticism I have is that (especially at the beginning) the singers look like not really singing, just moving lips to the playback.
Funny, my sister studied singing at this college too. She is coloratura soprano and singing teacher.
Merry christmas!
Peter

Super pro ! Super clean sound, amazing work on your part. With what hardware (mics, preamps, etc) did you record ? How many takes ?
Also great lighting.

Thanks! I just did the editing/mix/master. Manuel Grunden, the arranger and bass singer and also former tonmeister student did the recordings in our music college using a SSL C200 and U89 for the female/ U47 fet for the male vocals. They recorded 2 days I think. The ensemble was foundedfor that piece. So they haven't had practised the song before. They just came to sing their parts.
Mix was made in REAPER of course, using plugins from FabFilter, valhalla (for nearly all reverbs), audioease (altiverb for the basic ambience), waves (loair for the "explosions" in the epic parts) izotope and so on. nothing very special.

I'm also guessing the video was done post-audio, but isn't that how most music videos are done anyway? Even the YouTube Pros like Rob Scallon, Andrew Huang and Jared Dines "sync" their videos to music afterwards. Nothing wrong with that, as long as it comes out well, like this does.
Looks like it was a lot of fun to make!

Yes it was I think it's nearly impossible to handle both at the same time, especially as soon as it gets a little bit more complex.
