How To "A/B" 2 Tracks in Reaper?
Is there an option that would allow me to toggle quickly between 2 tracks to A/B them? The way I have to do it now is to solo the "A" track, listen to it, then "un-solo" it and solo the "B" track to listen to that. Alternately, I could mute all other tracks and listen to A and B alternately. But that's no better since I have to mute A after I listen to it, then "un-mute" B.
If I solo a track to listen just to that track (the entire purpose of "solo" after all), of course all is well. But when 2 tracks have the solo button activated, they both play. I have found this to be very handy. But I need the option to NOT be able to solo more than 1 track at a time. So after I finish listening to track A, all I would have to do is hit the solo button on track B, and it would simultaneously deactivate solo on track A.
Thanks!
Ken

With the toggle action for solo this is possible.

Mute one of the tracks.
Now Shift select both tracks.
To toggle the Mutes between the two tracks, hit Alt-M.
edit: Sorry, I should have read your post more carefully. I thought you wanted to toggle between two tracks, whilst still listening to the other tracks.

Here is how I AB 2 tracks in REAPER (only works with 2 tracks .. no more no less):
Make 2 tracks.
Mute AND solo one of the tracks.
Now use the solo button for that track to toggle.
Works fine for me and it goes pretty easy and quick too.

that's what i do as well
but i've almost finished a little js plugin to do the same thing. not sure if it'll be useful yet, but it's got an A/B/C/D mode, mono/sum/difference, and will auto-select a different input every few seconds. considering a blind mode as well. i used it to compare different mastering jobs on the same track. bit of hassle to set up though, the mute/solo trick is a lot easier.

I´ve made me a makro. something like "move to next track, solo that track". (at work now, so I´m not sure how it is exactly)
I put it on arrow-down-key to quick solo-listening all tracks in succession.

Smart move... wish I thought of it before I searched the forum lol.
I just muted all the tracks in my project but one (track A) and then soloed/un-soloed another one (track B). Works like charm.
Thanks for this one !

If I have a reference track, I will keep it muted, then hit the solo button on the reference track and it will mute all my work and just play the reference.
