Importing Drum Midi
I'm trying to import a midi file (Metallica - Fade To Black) I'm just using the drum midi. Here is the MIDI file...
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2...W4xekVXWXJGcTA
For the most part it sounds about right. But the cymbal sounds really off @ 0:41:362
Anyone know what is going on? I'm using Superior Drummer. Or if anyone knows where I can get a proper drum midi for that song to cover?
Thanks!

There are a lot of very short (5 ticks) crash cymbals notes there - is that the problem? And, later on at 27.1.00.

Yes it sounds like a motor or some type of machine when I play it with superior drummer. Is there a way to fix it?

Delete those notes? (I don't know the details of that song.)

I deleted all of the tracks in the MIDI file except the drum track, and played it through SD2's default kit.
I found the 5 short notes, deleted them, then stretched the remaining long note to fill the beat. Worked fine.
I don't know if there's a mapping issue, though. Those 5 notes were snare hits when I played them through SD2.

I presumed that is was a GM-mapping. There were many more than 5 short notes. They are at A2 (MIDI #57) - "Crash Cymbal 2"

I used GM mapping, as well. Let me take another look. Didn't hear them, though.
Might be the EPL match between Crystal Palace and Leicester City playing in the background. :P
EDIT: OK. Found the gazillion Crash 2 hits. I can hear a low-level shotgun effect when I lower the tempo to 80, but at the tempo defined in the MIDI file (116), the crash sustain seems to smooth over the next attack so I don't hear it much. The 5 snare hits were obvious, though. Editing the MIDI to fix that seems the only option.

Is that easy to do? I'm pretty new to MIDI. Some of the stuff you guys are saying is going over my head a bit, so I'll have to look it up and learn.

Why has nobody thought of listening to the actual song? That MIDI track matches what Lars plays, it's just that cymbal washes are pretty tricky to do with some drum samplers so you end up with what the OP did - a bunch of fast "normal" cymbal hits.
These might help you spruce it up a bit:

Here is where I got the file from.
