Don't forget to type the quotes around 'Application Support'!

Last attempt it said patch does not apply.

Oh well I'm going to sleep. Hopefully someone can figure this out and post it, I'm not skilled enough to be messing with this. Longtime windows user and only been on mac for few months now.

@ hopi

I've seen you around here for a long time while I've been lurking so I figured you knew what you were doing, but I just had to ask.

I just downloaded the latest pre and did a portable install in Win 10 x64 with the latest SWS extensions. It worked fine for me so nothing in Reaper or SWS has changed to cause your problem.

I managed to generate the same error (Extension not supported: "py") you're getting when I didn't have Options>Preferences>ReaScript "Enable Python for use with ReaScript" checked. It also exhibited the behavior you describe, not showing .py files until I changed the dropdown from "All supported files" to "All Files" when locating the script.

thanks for hangin' with me on this one azi...

yeah I've been here for a long time and mostly know my way around but that don't mean I know everything and\or that I don't make dumb mistrakes...%^)

so here is what I currently have:

https://stash.reaper.fm/26834/python%20dialog.jpg

now first I tried the .dll from it's installed location on C drive, but since previously it always worked from the system 32 folder I put a copy there and have the dialog pointed to that one.

and here is the 'error' I get when trying to load or create a new script in the actions window [from inside the Midi Editor]

https://stash.reaper.fm/26835/python%20dialog%202.jpg

so please, if you can suggest what to do next to get it working I would surely try it.

Ahhhh..... I'm pretty sure I see the problem. You should be pointing to Python34.dll, not Python3.dll. (Don't ask how I know this) The C:\Windows\System32 in the "custom path to Python dll directory" is what I'm using also, that is correct. I don't have any entry in the "Force ReaScript to use specific Python dll:" setting. Hope this gets it for you

Thanks again... that did it

now I must report what through me off... when Python 3.4 installed itself, on C Drive in it's own folder, the .dll there was named python3.dll so when copied to the system 32 folder it also had that name... strange... changing it to 34 instead of 3 made it all work.

Ok so now I know the issue and can carry on... likely I'll try the more recent Python 3.5x now...

The Reachorder is pretty kewl... and I'm happy to have it in the toolkit.

Good deal man, glad that it worked for you. That is really strange about the .dll name, I've never seen that happen before but nothing surprises me most of the time anymore.

Hello everyone,

I was the original thread starter, and created ReaChorder. I lost my previous account after my health took a nosedive. But I'm back, and feeling better than ever.

The ReaChorder project is still alive, and soon I will further it's development. I will drop support for the notation editor, as Reaper now has it's own notation software. GuitarChorder is also under new development.

Lately, VST programming piqued my interest, and I probably will release some VST's as well.

Default Error message

When I start the script Reachord_beyond , I geht the message ;

Script execution error

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "ReaChorder.py", line 1, in <module>
import beyond.Reaper
ImportError: No module named beyond.Reaper

What does that mean?

The first Reachord-version ends with an error-message too: tkinter not found.
I have installed Active Tcl-8.6, which should install tkinter (on a Mac).

I wonder if it would be a good idea to recreate ReaChorder in LUA? I noticed that we can do a lot with LUA, more than I initially thought. With Lokasenna's GUI environment, we can create some nice GUIS.

I don't have much experience with LUA yet, but I am looking into it.

What do you think?

If and when I ever get back to it, I'd like to add something similar to Theory Helper.

ReaChorder only works for Python 3.3. Anything else is not guaranteed. Python has this habit of releasing entirely new versions and overthrow their entire code base. Which is quit annoying. Instead of deprecating stuff, they just drop stuff. Which is annoying to say the least...

Python 3.3 is the only version which will work properly.

It has been a long time since the first release of ReaChorder. 4 years or so... where does the time go... especially when you are sick. All this time I was healing.

I am currently restarting my work on ReaChorder and GuitarChorder, because I enjoy working on it. It seems that it held up pretty well over the years. But it could be a lot better. I am going to make massive changes, and the ultimate goal is to produce a complete song that can serve as a template and further inspiration.

I have looked into LUA, but it's not something that can compare to Python. LUA maybe faster and better integrated into Reaper, but the trade off is too big. I am also working extensively with Ctypes (wintype) to connect to MIDI devices and grab real time MIDI data into Python, I know LUA has some basic MIDI support, but not as extensive as Python, where we can basically have access to the driver level.

I wrote a Python class that can connect to MIDI devices through Reaper Python, for Windows only, as it uses the Windows windll->winmm, MIDIINCAP/MIDIOUTCAPS:

Example: https://stash.reaper.fm/31259/midi.py

So we can control all MIDI devices through Reaper Python. Pretty cool.

It has been a while, hasn't it Flaneurette? I'm looking forward to whatever you develop going forward with these scripts. I'm sure it will be interesting.
