Hi Reapers,

Just a quick update that ValhallaRoom version 1.0.6 is now available for demoing/purchasing:

http://www.valhalladsp.com/valhallaroom

The big new feature of this release is the Dark Room reverb mode, which adds some noisy, dark, lushly chorused vintage mojo to ValhallaRoom. I've put up a blog post about Dark Room:

http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com/201...ing-dark-room/

I've sent links out to all existing ValhallaRoom customers. If you haven't received your link, send me an email or PM, and I'll get the download links out to you.

I want to thank the Reaper users, and the people on this forum, for being so helpful during the early release of the Windows version of ValhallaRoom. I was able to resolve some GUI issues (that had deep roots in Juce), that weren't specific to Reaper, but people here offered a lot of helpful suggestions during the debugging process. So, for all of you VRoom users, please enjoy the new Dark Room reverb mode!

I had a friend here over the weekend working with me on a score for a documentary and he also owns a studio. He's a great engineer and an awesome guitarist and is quite critical of quality. We used Valhalla Room for this score and after all of 30 seconds of hearing it, he decided to purchase it!! His name is Lyndon Kriss (you should see his name in your recent purchases) and we've worked together on many projects over the last couple of decades.

I have always advised engineers to keep a diverse collection of reverbs in their studios for that "you never know what you need" situations. I have noticed though that my own collection has dwindled since I started using Valhalla Room. It is so versatile! The cool thing about that as well is that in the past, most "versatile" tools, hardware or software, usually are pretty good at many functions without excelling at any one task. But Valhalla Room excels at every use I find for it. Listen to me, I've turned into a Valhalla fanboi! Thanks Sean for such a great reverb. And I love the new dark presets, they are great starting points for some cool sounds!

Good choices! I have those as well. Major Tom, Bombardier' Event Horizon, Vibe EQ.... they are all good too.

I never asked, but for $50 apiece, that is an incredible deal for the quality. Pay the $100 and be happy!

I agree it's a great deal at $50 a pop, but in this economy it never hurts to ask.....

Absolutely, no offense intended. I just seem to have had this same conversation regarding another very fairly priced plugin recently. My financial situation is very tight, and I bet some of these dev's are in the same position as many of us. So I am trying to remind myself really. And Seans plugins are one of the best values out there, next to Reaper of course!

I've been demoing this over the last few days. Very cool reverb. Now all I need is $50.

Don't buy beer, soda pop, junk food, whatever, for maybe a few days and you will effortlessly be able to purchase this fine reverb from a very good and generous dev. Sean truly reminds me of that same "vibe" as the Cockos crew, Acustica Audio, CDSoundmaster, Alex B, Rhythminmind, Stillwell/Schwa, etc. This is the coolest reverb plug even if it were much more expensive. Get it!! Also demo Valhalla Shimmer. Very unique; think Brian Eno or Eno produced U2. Endless decay stuff. Check it out.

If I could kick the smokes, I'd have a shiny new reverb already.

I'm not touching Shimmer until I've picked up Room. This thing would easily replace my collection of freeware reverb plugins, while also doing some things that they can't.

I try not to be too fan-boi-ish about anything, but Seans 2 Reverbs have replaced almost all of my free-ware verbs AND even some of the paid for ones! I keep finding new uses for both, and there are some extra cool presets that have been posted by users. Sean adds some too. But the best thing about Valhalla Room is that it is so easy for me to understand and tweak. I'll say it again.... Buy it! It's worth maybe not smoking as much even, you just find a way to save $50. It's not $1,000 anyway!

Don't buy junk food for a week, and you won't even notice the money spent (other than having amazing verb on your tracks!!).

Buying junk food is not the problem....buying food is!

I will get them someday...they are just too nice NOT to, and compliment S.I.R & the IR's I have really well.

I was just kidding anyway. Definitely get these when you can, they are amazing values and very very versatile. These have just about replaced all of my other verbs, both free and paid for. I haven't touched an ir verb in months!

Hey, uhm.... I don't suppose anyone is interested in doing a Reaper Valhall-menuing theme-theme?

It occurs to me that the "non-gui" FX controls in Reaper would actually (in my case) be preferable to the currently trendy "fake visualization" GUI, if they looked like the big pseudo-Ableton controls in Valhalla.

If you had only $50-$75 to spend, would you choose Valhalla or Liquidsonics' Reverberate?

I've used both and I completely prefer Vahalla Room. My ears like the overall sounds of Valhalla much better. I love the ease of customizing, the depth, and the cool "realness" that I hear. Reverberate is cool, but I also prefer the algorithmic reverb to the IR. All in all, it's the sound that I made my decision based on, and as I have said before, Valhalla replaced most of my other verbs, both free and paid for. Try them both and let your own ears tell you.

I have and use both.To my ears there is no one reverb to do it all. The modulation options in Reverberate are simply amazing at making static impulses breath. The ability to pan impulses hard left and right while modulating them lets you cram even more sound up the middle!Of course you can do the same with two instances of Vroom.
Imo reverb has arrived itb.It rivals the best hardware with a few exceptions.
You want to hear another fantastic verb plug? Check out the LX480 http://www.relab.dk/lx480_lite.htm
It's the Random Hall algo from the 480 with some improvements and more options.
The only problem is that now you can spend (waste) whole days in verb heaven, just floating around in different spaces.....

Apologies!! I see what you mean now.LOL
Let us know what you think of the LX480.
But getting back to Vroom. I can't remember another verb that is easier to use. Choose an appropriate preset and with a couple of tweaks your ready to go.
Imo it's a desert island verb.I'd be happy if it was my one and only verb. But it's great to have choices.;-)

Is this your company? Who's "us"? It is a nice verb. Unfortunately, I don't do iloks.... is there a dongle-free version, because I also like to have verb choices.

Oh god no!LOL I meant the reaper community.
Yeah I hear you on the dongles. Unfortunately I have a bunch of plugs that use Ilok. Actually I've never had a problem with Ilok, knock on wood.

That was my mindset when I bought Valhalla. I decided that I could do most things Reverberate does with Reaper natively (albeit with a clunkier interface), but I couldn't do an algorithmic reverb with the same quality/complexity as Valhalla.

Liquidsonics makes a great product IMO, but they both priced themselves out a little high, and by separating what they offer into what amounts to 3 products that should probably just be sold as a package. In retrospect I wish I hadn't spent so much time researching the differences.

I would totally get Valhalla over Liquidsonics. Oops, I already have both and really only use Valhalla now.....
