Default "Love is the Key"

Love is the Key: a jazz musical type of song that is about a fresh new day starting.
The instrumentation is simple; just an upright bass, a piano, a celesta and the singer.
I used Heda's item notes to SRT to make the video.

It's a 16 measure melody, preceded by an intro and then after the usual chorus, goes into a key change at the bridge.
It goes back to the intro at the end.

Thank you for listening and commenting! I realize that my song is neither a style or a theme that is mainstream, so perhaps an arduous listen.

Delicius.
Regarding the mix, I think the piano might be tamed and I would try to let the voice to shine more, to sit better and take the role it deserves among the rest.

Very nicely done! I find no faults in the mix; perhaps the congas could be more prominent. The song itself is really nice. I love the optimism.

Great song, and the vocals are top notch. Although my roots are in rock and roll, I have a heavy background in jazz and classical too, so music like this always resonates with me.

I feel that the song would benefit greatly if performed at a much much slower tempo. Upon first listen the instruments, melody and harmony work well together. They were indeed the right choices. But the vocal sounds very rushed. Especially so in the bridge. Just my 2 cents.

Actually, they’re not congas, they’re hits on the contrabass to emphasize the beat. Thank you for your comment! Mixing is not my forte so I’m glad it sounds good!

My favorite part is the lyrics and having it sung. Jazz chords are fun to work with. Arrangents can be more complex and modulation is more accessible in jazz!
Thank you for you comment!

I finished the song last friday but originally, it was meant as a 90bpm ballad. Not the same style, it sounded more folk and the chorus was entirely different. And less chords too.

Being an old jazz guy, I love it krahosk, great performance by all.

However, it could use some serious mixing and mastering. At 2:18 where the multi vocals come in, they need to come up quite a bit.

I like everything you've got going here, it just needs some polishing with both the mixing and mastering.

Thank you for listening, Tod! I have to admit, after the song was recorded, I didn’t do any mixing and mastering except the basics. I will have to put some time into it, you’re right.
