Need help with recording Skype.
I have been looking for this information for a few weeks now. I need to be able to record Skype calls. I figured it out with garageband, but honestly I don't really want to use that DAW. There is just something about it that I don't like.
I have looked all over and only found about 3 things but they don't seem to fit my specific set up/needs. I would really like to be able to record anything that is coming from my computer, SoundBoard, YouTube, etc. I think I can live without those if I absolutely have to, but I have to have Skype(I am recording a podcast with a co host that is not in the area).
I am using:
Alesis iO2 Express
SoundFlower
Line-In
Newest version of Reaper
I am new to Reaper(will probably need a step by step if someone can help) and love it so far. I am strongly considering buying it soon unless I can't get this to work.
Could anyone please help?

You didn't mention how you do it in GB, nor what fails in your attempt in Reaper, nor what are you using the line input for.
Here's how I would do it. I'm assuming you are using the Alesis IO2 for the main sound output and input:
1) Make sure the Alesis IO2 is connected and recognized, and open OSX's Audio MIDI Setup.
2) Below the list of devices, click the "+" and "Create Aggregate device".
3) In the pane on the right, check only these boxes, and in this order:
- Alesis IO2
- Soundflower (2ch)
4) In System Preferences > Sound > Output, select Soundflower (2ch).
5) In Reaper's Preferences > Audio > Device, select Aggregate device.
6) Create two new tracks. Set the inputs on first track to channels 1-2 (this is you), and 3-4 for the second track (this is the person on the other end).
7) Enable monitoring for both channels and you're good to go.

SoundFlower and Jack would be the first choices indeed.
Perhaps also try ScreenFlow in demo mode, export to /mov, extract .aiff audio in QuickTime player or elsewhere. video is watermarked, but that doesn't affect audio of course. Works at a really low level in your system.
Another option (but not free) is WireTap Studio.

Using a DAW to record Skype seems kind of overkill to me. If you can afford $20, check out Call Recorder for Skype. I use it and it works great. I'd highly recommend Reaper if you want to do multitrack recordings of your band or yourself playing musical instruments. Right tool for the right job.

I partially agree, but spending $20 seems even more overkill for a simple feature like this. If this would be the only usage for Reaper, I would instead check the free ones first, such as Ardour.
