Default SONG: Fly a Kite

Hi,

I've got a new song out. It's called "Fly a Kite" - you can check it
out here:
https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v4/...ongID=13742836

It's my first Reaper song - so I'll try posting here. ;-)

It features my usual suspects:
Superior Drummer
some Kontakt stuff
MODO Bass
real Strat and Tele - with amp sims

Please have a listen if you have time ;-)

CDs (including my newest one "Pull the Other One")
are also available at https://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/JohnBraner
and all the normal streaming services.

LOL!! "sonar refugee" I love it. That makes two of us!

Very catchy tune. Nice work with the drums. I'm trying to get better tracks from Superior Drummer as well. Never seen anyone use a modelled bass before, how do you like it. I've been happy so far with IKM stuff, SampleTank and Sonik SYnth II, but I wish I had more voices in some categories.

Seems like you have a mix of straight 4, 8th note, and 16th note rhythms working together. I like that.

Hi soundchacer,

Thanks a lot for listening!

I moved to Reaper around the beginning of the year and I really like it now.
I won't be going back to SONAR - even with the new version

How about you?

I love Superior 3 and just drag grooves in to the Reaper MIDI editor, and make them "just right". Actually, I wouldn't mind if I could hijack the SONAR MIDI editor.

I used to use Trilian bass all the time, but I like the MODO. You can make it a little "rougher"
Otherwise, I'm not big on IKM stuff.

Hi,
Very strange and interesting contrast between the synth moments and the guitar ones.
Like it very much.

Hi benf,

Thanks a lot for listening!

That's exactly what I was (and usually am) trying to achieve

Very nice tune, very cool. I demoed modo bass out of curiosity from the reviews, but I didn't like it very much and all the basses sounded basically the same to me. I have to admit being biased though; I've never been a fan of sampled bass or guitar. Still gotta say you've got Modo sounding pretty good in this song. I think it's that slight growl.

Hi sammy,

First of all thanks for listening and comments.

I think you can make MODO sound -very- different from bass to bass.
Plus, I love the fact that you can force it to play in certain positions like C on 4th string
8th fret rather than 3rd strung 3rd fret.
That makes a big difference.
