Default ReValver seems to have been abandoned. Anyone compared against Amplitube 5?

Hey, ReValver had been supposedly under the management of a different company for a couple of years now, but still contrary to previous claims the latest update was in 2016. I can get some good tones from it and it was considered quite customable at the time, but I think it still needs refinement which it probably won't be getting.

The midrange version of Amplitube 5 is available for €100 with a variety of included gear, so I wonder if there are people who compared the two softwares and have an opinion?

Thanks.

I can tell you, Revalver isn't abandoned. It is actively being developed.

I remember already asking about ReValver last year and someone else replied its development is "extremely active", but still so far not even a status update has been provided by them (the last update on their website is the Mac version getting a compatibility update).

Perhaps they've been keeping it on low fire and still intend to release something new at some point, but for potential costumers it seems like such a product is no longer under development.

I've yet to try Re-valver. And am not a fan of Amplitube.
I'm really looking forward to the new update of S-Gear by Scuffham....
(talking of amp suites), and also ModSound's Tubular is promising.
Mercuriall Ampbox is great and an update is nearly here.
And STL Tones' Amphub is fantastic.
YMMV

=D

I have never been fan of amplitube, amp one or anything since 2001. But revalver from alien connections 2000 dx plugin is the best i heard. It sounds very like hw dsp with powerful reverberation and delay while all those newer ones sound like sterile or dull. I hate also type of amping for metal. That revalver was kind of psychodelic

I`ve had reValver for ever. Well at least since version 2.xx.
Everything I own still works fine. Not the ideal amp sim but then I have yet to find one that is. At least I can get some sounds I like quickly and easily from ReValver 4.

It was way ahead of the game early on with all it's component modeling and whatnot, but sadly it can't stand up to AmpliTube these days.

Ofc if you start with good speaker sims and work backwards, most any amp plugin is useable. Even IK's speaker modeling is not so great IMO...

Any opinions on Bias Amp 2?

I've got it... only now starting to tinker. Just got a Spark, and I'm having loads of fun with that.

It's OK. You can get more unique sounds out of it if you take the time, but I don't use it much. I'd recommend Softube Amp Room over that, which is around the same price and regularly on sale.

The big caveat with that one is the login window that pops up whenever you load the plugin. You don't have to log in, but it sure is annoying.

My preference for the amps I own:
1. AmpliTube. I like Fender amps and this one has the best. It's been my go-to since v4. I think it's got the most gear for the money if you buy the big packages, but IK is really good at getting you to overspend, over time. I started out a la carte, but ended up re-buying all of it in one of the bigger deals...
2. Amp Room. This one has the most realistic sound to my ears and the best speaker sims and most flexible routing, but the standard package is pretty light on options.
3. Bias Amp. This one's the most customizable, but go for Bias FX if you can; I think it's the full package. Bias Amp doesn't have any FX.
4. ReValver. I use the AC30 on occasion, but that's about it. By far the cheapest.

But I regularly use 2 or three in series with custom speaker sims at the end. Can't overstate the importance of that last stage in the chain.

The thing I remember standing out about ReValver was the dynamic speaker sim.

Celestion have a dynamic speaker sim, but it's expensive and buggy. Shame the Celestion speakers for Softube are static IRs.

Oh shit, I was unaware of this distinction. Now I have to do some research...

Positive Grid stuff I liked the sound of. Heard reports of the interface being stupidly sluggish and laggy.

My ears are drawn to https://neuraldsp.com stuff these days.

I've used bias FX for about six months and I've never experienced any lag or sluggishness.

Downloaded Softube's Marshall Murder One Lemmy Signature last night to demo... I don't know how it would sit in a mix, but out of the gate I liked it a lot.

It's at the top end of my impulse buy limit. Might have to pick that up.

I've been a fan of Overloud's THU for a long time now.
