Default Vertical line across media items?

I imported some audio to Reaper, and there is at least one line made up of vertical dashes in the middle of the clips. There's also a small < or > by the lines. If I extend the end of the clip, the second dashed line is usually at the end, but not always.

Could someone explain what this is?

The bars with the ">" or "<" are the boundaries of regions embedded in the the media file. (REAPER can write these when "Render markers as cue" is checked in the render dialog.)

Thank you. So, they're harmless?

I looked in the manual, but didn't see a way to delete them. I'll investigate further.

I guess whoever made this sample library used Reaper. I haven't created any regions, so it must have been the developer.

Yeah they won't harm the audio in any way.

They're even useful, because there are actions to split items at media cues, or trim item to media cues, or move edit cursor to prev/next media cue, for example.

You can also disable showing them (action is View: Toggle show media cues in items).
