preset change not influencing playback?

Hello

If I let an audio track play, and on a different track with a vsti -- in my case, it's xpand!2 -- change its user preset, I can hear the brief cut out of audio. I am not talking about the vsti track, it's the audio track that's been playing.

Is there any way not to let it happen?

BTW, I know having multiple instances of the same vsti on different tracks and muting/unmuting them would work, but it would bloat the memory usage. Is it the only way?
