How to use joystick as a MIDI controller?

Hey, just a few minutes ago I've found Logitech ATTACK 3 joystick. Actually I'm not a gamer or something else so I'm a complete noob in using joysticks but I think it can make my life much easier if I use it as a MIDI controller.
All I came up with is

But it still doesn't work (e.g. when I try to add a shortcut for an action).

Help pls

From info in this link, it appears you need to edit generic.txt to tell Reaper what features your controller has and how to convert it to midi. There is some example code that you might be able to use as a starting point.

Dear friend, greetings to Moscow, you can try an helper application, which can make game controllers like x360 or any joystick (I guess) to qwerty keyboards or mouse events. Then you can map anywhere else, any software, including Reaper, as you wish. Here the program: antimicroX. https://github.com/juliagoda/antimicroX I am using a version for linux. Hi guy's sorry to resurrect an old thread but i was trying to figure out how to use my logitech G13 as both a key switch and mod wheel since the G13 have a thumb analog joystick that would be perfect for me to use but in doesn't detect the G13 but it can see my 3d connexion space mouse.

So is there a way to force reaper to recognize the gamepad as a joystick?

EDIT: Ok if anyone stumble upon this post you have to uninstalled logitech gaming software and install this version ''LGS_9.02.65_x64_Logitech'' and it will show up in the list.

Now it show in the list but it is shown as VKB and i want to assign it to control the mod wheel so do i need to edit the generic.txt for this to work and help would be appreciated for the kind of code i need to put there.
