Default Reaper Freeze while Scanning DirectX FX

I am a newbie, doing my initial eval of the software. My apologies. I didn't see another thread about this.

Currently using v2.55 on Windows XP SP 3. I went to insert a softsynth and the system began scanning for DirectX and VST plugins. When it got to FL Studio in VSTi, the application froze after prompting that another instance of FL Studio was already running. I don't think that it actually was running at that point, but who knows.

I will End Task and try it again, but I wanted to post the bug in case it helps development at all. I suspect that it's a problem involving the two versions (DirectX and VSTi) of the FL Studio software.

All the best,

Default On restart, scanning continues without a hitch

After restarting the application and re-inserting virtual instrument, the scanning was completed without error. I would classify the bug as an annoyance, but not critical.

Default I am having same problem

Except reaper doesn freeze, it says running in task manager, however, nothing happens. The progress bar never moves. I left it this way for an entire hour, and still had no movement.

Reaper is now unusable for me. I cannot add any FX or virtual instruments. This is a new install on a fresh copy of windows (the reason for the new install).

I suspect its because im using reaper x64, ive had problems with that build in the past, its not at all stable.

I am gonna try using the 32 bit version of reaper since thats really the only stable version of reaper.

Default

unless DX plugins are absolutely needed, I suggest disabling them in Reaper.
