Default panning

Hi, I've recorded a stereo acoustic guitar track (2 monos) and have them panned roughly 75 each way.
It sounds pretty centered though, I thought I'd have more width to the track.
I recorded it through 2 mics, 0ne each side of the guitar and panned hard right and left.
Any advice to getter a wider sound>
Thanks,
Mike

so it was a sort of AB positioning?
The stereo width with this method is defined by the distance between the two mics, so if you want it wider you need to record with more distance between the mics..but be careful, if the distance is too much you will have a "hole" in the center. You can add a third mic (omni, with the two sides cardioid) paying attention to attenuate it just the need to fill the hole.

One question, you say "roughly panned 75%" but then you say "hard panned L&R"...which one is the one you're doing? with stereo recording you MUST hard pan the mics or you will have phase issue!

Last thought, you can also wide the stereo image with some plugin

If you want a super wide sound, record two separate mono takes of the same part and pan them hard L&R.

I recorded the guitar with the pans hard left and right and in the mix I currently have them at about 75 each l and R.
If I pan them at 100% in the mix they appear to be very central in the stereo field, no idea why.

Yes, I should have had more distance between the mics when recording but the sound and playing of the take is just right so I'm trying to deal with what I already have. Thanks.

Did you try "Dual Pan Mode"?

Move one track a milisecond over. Or use this plugin-http://www.nullmedium.de/dev/audioplugins/
