I did do the built-in Stripper update ... it downloaded and installed ... but the version number did not change :| v: 0.94.0115

Not sure if anything is different. My custom GUI strip loaded and looks fine.

Was curious about the new Mode [direct ?], but I've not seen/found that.

Guess I'll be re-reading through this thread to learn more ...

Lastly ... this is why I don't do major updates during on-going. Luckily being a portable, I could do this a leisure.

Hmmm. Is it running version 0115? that's very old now...

Should be 0185...

Ahh - I have to say I've not tried the updater on a portable install - although in theory it should work - maybe it doesn't...

I would try the update manually...

And as much as I hate to say it - check your main install - it may now be running the latest version (although it should all be fine - you could put 0115 back on it to be sure). EDIT: I don't see how the updater would have affected the main install though - so it should be ok.

Well ... I just downloaded [SaveAS] the 'latest' LBX Stripper.lua from Github

When I run it, Open Setting ... its v:0.94.0115

Looking at the actual script, I see: lvar.scriptver = '0.94.0185' --Script Version

hmmm ...

now I wonder if the Portable is looking at my v:5 Hard Install .... that's the same Stripper version ?!? hmmm again.

I'm confused now certainly... Check your resources path from your portable install...

I too ...

Portable: I go to OPTIONS ... Show Reaper Resource Path. I open that, and it is the Portable Folder. So that seems right.

also, under ACTIONS, the Show Resource Path again points to the portable DIR

Recalling: After Port install, I IMPORTED my working CONFIG file. Did that change the portable's other Paths ??? that would not be good.

any idea?

Ahhh - maybe it's one of my experimental things I added. I'm not fully sure if it could be this - but would be interesting to see...

In Settings->Advanced - I added an option to change the resource path.

However - this is stored in Reaper external state - so I would assume this is different for both versions of Reaper - so it still doesn't properly explain anything.

And it shouldn't be set up unless you changed the path anyway.

What does it say in the alt resource box in Settings->Advanced?

The other thing to check is have you loaded in the LBXStripper.lua from the portable install into the Actions list? Or is it loading from the main install Scripts/LBX folder?

I guess you could delete LBXStripper.lua from the actions list and reload it ensuring you get it from the portable install folder.

If referring to Stripper [settngs, advance] ... I don't see an 'alt resource box'.

I don't see LBX in the Actions List.

I'm running Stripper from the Action Run Last Script .... which when I think about that ... could be the issue ?!?!?!?!?:

I've no idea what's wrong there - but you have got Dynamic Mode set up on two different pages - This is not advised and could well be the cause of the issue (I don't know).

Dynamic Mode should only exist on one single page of one track strip. I cannot think of any reason why you should ever want it otherwise.

But anyway - I'm not sure what the error is at the moment.

Hi,

I had a chance to look closer at the GIF - I'm still not quite sure what the issue you're describing to me is. I might have been confused before.

The strip appears not to reflect the values of the plugin - is that correct?

And also - the 2nd Dynamic mode is not loading the correct strip?

Are these the problems - or one of them - or something else?

Can you provide me with a copy of the strip (or is it available somewhere)?

Thanks,

Hi, first off, thank you for your incredible work!

I have a Q:

The analyzer window in the mixer is floating instead of being embeded, where can I change that?

Thanks again, this is really going to help!

Hi

The window cannot be properly embedded - although it should 'look' like it is embedded - ie. the window frame and title removed. Is this the case?

Window frame and title are there, it loads in the normal plugin window frame.

Hmmm - what OS are you using?

Have you got latest SWS and Julian's API extensions installed?

Default Send Midi feedback on track change

Hey Leon,

I have a short question about Midi feedback.
In the settings there is an option "Send Midi feedback on track change" but it seems that this doesent work.
The Midi feedback doesent update the Midi controller if I change the track (I change the tracks in the Reapers TCP and in Dynamic Mode).
Should this function also working with Dynamic Mode?

Thanks!

That would be really great if this is also working in DM. I just got a new controller device hooked up and its a lot fun fun to work with this thing
Thank you very much Leon!

Been out of the loop on Stripper updates ... so trying to catchup on the development.

To that, can anyone point to the start of the DirectMode [DM] thread ... or explain what it is ... and why, after all this time, do we need DM ?

thanks

The DM (Dynamic Mode) is great because you can change the plugin order easily in LBX (and in Reaper TCP and MCP) without this annoying Insert.dll.
You can delete or load new plugins in Reaper and LBX update the strips automatically.
You can load FX chains and LBX update the strips.
You are not so stucked anymore with LBX.
You can make changes in Reaper without messing up LBX.
For me personally, its the best new change that Leon made!
Give it a shot.
DM its amazing and if you understand how it works you will love it.
Its much simpler too imo.

You just have to select the Master (in the LBX Track selection) and then right click and "Set Track/Strip To Dynamic Mode (Current Page)
If you did this, LBX is in Dynmaic Mode.
You can close/hide the LBX Track Selection from LBX from now on except you like to modify, creat, save, modulate some stuff
but from this point on you HAVE TO CHANGE/SELECT YOUR TRACKS LIKE THE BASIC WAY IN REAPER,
that means you have to click on the Reaper TCP or MCP Tracks for "Track Selection" like it would be without LBX OTHERWISE IT DOESENT WORK CORRECTLY.
Dont change your Track selection with the LBX Track selection, just leave it on MASTER!
Now if you load any Plugin, doesent matter if you have a Strip for this plugin or not, it shows up in LBX with a default tiny strip
...you can modify this default Strip if you like.
If you already have saved Strips then LBX open that Strip automatically if you load that VST BUT multi Strips with a couple of VSTs doesent work in DM.
If you like to do that you have to load that Multi Strip from the LBX right click menu "Insert Strip" or press "0" for the Strip browser but I would recommend you to save one strip per Plugin.
Its a big learning curve with this script and I had been planning for a long time to make some easy Tutorials because its nothing really out there except the one from Leon him selve.
I hope I could help you a little.

Cheers

Ps

you have to re-save your strips in DM.
Open a Strip in DM with the right click menu and then press Shift and left click on the Strip name (on top of the Strip) and select "Edit Strip"
Then just hit save. With this edit, you associate your strip with the VST

Once again, thanks for explaining.

For my work [Mastering], I think the DM mode would not really be a benefit [could be wrong].

For me, there are only a few STRIPS that I call on. They are all based on
a chain of Acustica Audio's N4 plugin.

Multiple tracks have a STRIP in place, as each track is BUS'd through.

The only real 'feature' I miss, is the ability to DELETE a STRIP [removing it, and associated plugins from that track] ... but i use a workaround.

Needless to say, STRIPPER has vastly improved workflow.

2. also wish there was a way to MINIMIZE the Stripper Panel :|
but again ... i workaround.

Hi RJ,

I agree - DM mode may be less beneficial to you.

But it would solve the Delete issue you are having (even plugins without controls in the strip get deleted when you delete the associated switcher control.

Your second minimize request would be very easily solved with an additional script - so you'd just run an action to show/hide Stripper.

... drawing me into the DM mode But still, it's been only a minor issue remove a strip. Basically, I delete the BUS [track].

2. show/hide script ... i'd have to leave that to the 'script experts'. [a man must know his limits] :|

1. You can delete a Strip by clicking on the Strip Switcher with Shift+RMB and then selecting "Delete Switcher".

@Leon:
I am still of the opinion that a modifier would be appropriate here. Since deleting strips is a repetitive task, it would make sense. ALT+LMB or Option+LMB to delete the Strip Switcher would be coherent with Reaper.

2. There would be the possibility to put the action "LBX Stripper.lua" on a keyboard shortcut or create a button in the toolbar. Then you can open or close the script at any time.
However, if you don't want to close LBX Stripper and it is docked to the main window, you can also simply create a window screenset to unfold and collapse the docker where LBX Stripper is located.

So a simple Alt+LMB on the switcher will delete the strip?

Yeah, I would also support that idea! Would make it consistent with REAPER.

Default Plug & Mix Plugins Reset On Open GUI

Recently picked up the P&M VIP Bundle on sale. Noticed strange behavior when using them with LBXStripper. Everything works fine until the GUI of the plugin is opened at which point it resets to its last state. That is, changing a value from the stripper(with GUI closed) works fine, and they are in sync. However once the GUI is opened, everything resets to the last state from the GUI. Hope this is clear.

This is probably because of some non-standard way in which the P&M GUI operates and not the fault of the stripper.

Was wondering if anyone had experienced this and has a workaround.

I'm afraid I've no idea on this one. I tried installing the demo - but the demo seems to have all automatable parameters hidden - so I cannot test it with Stripper.

Seems a weird bug though - as this would also likely affect other things like automation (I would guess).

So just to be clear - you have the gui closed. Use stripper to change parameters - and these values stick ok. Then when you open the plugin GUI - the plugin knobs are still at their previous settings and stripper knobs jump to match these (which would be what it should do - as Stripper should stay synced - but obviously the plugin should not be at previous values)??

Thats what I thought as well. So I tested automation in Reaper and it works fine. However, with an automation lane active, the GUI controls are locked to the automated value and can't be changed(this is normal behavior I believe).

So just to be clear - you have the gui closed. Use stripper to change parameters - and these values stick ok. Then when you open the plugin GUI - the plugin knobs are still at their previous settings and stripper knobs jump to match these (which would be what it should do - as Stripper should stay synced - but obviously the plugin should not be at previous values)??
yup, thats exactly it. Seems like when they restore the GUI, they recall the last values on initialization.

Thanks for the reply and for trying to test it with the demo. Too bad they hid the parameters.

Default Need suggestions for PedalBoard Slots

I'm building a guitar effects pedalboard multi-fx with LBXStripper and was looking for some input on the best way to handle it. I'd like to have slots in the board where I can choose from multiple effects similar to Amplitube.

I'd like to be able to reorder fx, select from a list etc.

I've used strip switchers before and they work well, but they would require strips for every effect in every position. I guess I could limit each position to certain types, ie a position each for distortion, modulation, reverb, delay etc.

Was also thinking of making a strip for each effect and having categories on the strip browser to add them, but then would have to reorder in Reapers fx slots.

I saw something about "slots" in LBXStripper, but know nothing about using them, and was wondering if they would be suitable and more efficient.

Would really appreciate any input you would have. Thanks.

It depends on how you work really.

I mean you could say DM (Dynamic Mode) mode would work ok. Simply create strips for all the individual pedal plugins - save them all in the same strip folder - as you already said.

Then use the strip browser to just drag them into a track as and when and in what order you wish. Reordering is also easy in DM mode by simply grabbing and moving the strip switcher.

You don't have slots so much - but can drag new strips to wherever you wish.

EDIT: If the video starts half way through - just rewind it. Dunno why it's doing that for me.

Hi, Leon! Thank you for click animation feature! Can you add this for cycle buttons too?

How i see this - every click animation going first to last frame. This is a good feature for animated buttons with many states

And what about drop out menu for buttons, is it real?
