I just updated the Soundcloud file. Added some drums and more disto guitar for the next part.
See the first post for updated preview (version 2) and stems.

That's tempting (and challenging to change, it's quite fleshed out already IMO), altough I'd be a away from my instruments for a couple of days.

I'd like to do something with it, but I'm not sure if I'll have much time. I'll get the stems anyway just in case.

Man I love the vibe of this. Not much that I can contribute since I'm a guitarist also but this really has so much potential and I'm psyched to see where it winds up.

I had a Udu Percussion idea for the Intro section. Here's a link to the flac:

I know the timing is a little sketchy in spots but I'll do a tighter version if you like it.

I think it's pretty on time, too. The thing is, that my guitar was a little off the click. So it must have been pretty hard to drum to it, hahaha!
Really lovely addition.
Now, anyone... real drums?
@sammy vocals?
@zeekat synth?

Damn. Now that's just weird. Before seeing Azimuth's post, I had already messed around and added some Indian perc. Seems we had the same line of thought. I also added synths, but not on the level of what Zee could do.

I couldn't get this tune out of my head last night while in bed and I just kept hearing percussion in that Intro section. When I imagined the sound of an Udu there, it just worked in my mind. Sammy, I would love to hear what you could do for this vocally. You come up with some of the most interesting stuff.
@timothy's monster: If you don't get any takers for cranking out a real drum track, I can definitely put something together with Jamstix if you'd like.

Ok, here's what I threw together. If anybody (Azimuth?) wants and stems, I'll prepare and upload them. "Unmastered." Just some ideas. Did the vox in a couple of takes, so not the best.

Oh crap, Sam already has a complete song. I didn't add much, just a bit of warbly lowend to the first part and a two story string/pad to cover the heavy guitar in the second. Whatever, adding to the idea bin:
https://soundcloud.com/zeekat/ti-mo-...-synth/s-TBLvh
there's also a obligatory ambient storm sample in the quiet moment. I can prepare stems if it sounds useful.

Well, it wasn't meant to be complete, just ideas to throw out. Nothing I added has to be there. I could upload the vocal stems only, if anybody wants that. But fair warning that some are permanently combined to save the track count. There were originally 7 or 8 tracks of little overlapping stems, so I condenced some of them. The chorus backgrounds and most of the lead vocals are still separate though.

Just listened to Zeekat's. Case in point: what he has in the chorus is better, more dramatic.

Very cool Sammy and zeekat. I'm hearing another section segueing between the 2 existing sections with the existing "chorus" being the huge payoff after it. This is TM's baby so I'll wait to see what he thinks.
I'm going to be out of town until next week for a Funeral so I'll be out of the loop until then at least.

Hoooly moly!
There is some awesome stuff evolving here!!!
Thank you so much, everyone.
@sammy:
Really nice melody! Would you mind posting the lyrics, too? I would love to add some harmonies as we did before with another song, you remember? So yeah, the stems would be helpful. (I think some of the harmonies in the chorus are creating different chords, maybe we should revise those)
@zeekat:
What a beautiful broken sound! I love it. We should only have a look at the notes you are playing in the beginning, they might not fit well at some points. The string pad is perfect, though. And the soooouuunds... amazing!
Here is what I came up with yesterday. I added a next (more positive) part at the end. Let's see where it will fit:

Oh, and I updated the stems, too. (See first post)

I was about to add an "Edit" to say I can't stand my vocals and remove my link. lol! But you've already heard them now, and I really can't re-sing them, so I guess they'll do.
Sure I can send the stems and lyrics, and I'll upload prob later this eve or tomorrow morn. Do you want just the lead and leave out the harmonies? Not crazy about the backgrounds either, so no problem if you want to leave those out. I just had a free, quiet evening alone and banged something out.
Love the extra new bits.

Hahaha, well... I really like the melody. If you can, upload lead vox and harmonies separately please (one track each). And maybe post the lyrics here so everyone can chime in.

Yeah I felt it might be not quite right in places, will try to fix while working on the next bit.

Oh well, what can I say... sorry?
But you already got the sounds. Just need to find the right tones for the intro and the new part which is a time signature of 3 x 7/4 + 2 x 4/4
Would you mind posting the stems for the chorus section? They are awesome!

LYRICS
Misunderstood
There's something in the air above
I'm not blind
I've seen it coming long before this
day, but I wonder what
will change this time
Still I'm looking for that never-ending faith
So, if you listen close
things I say mean nothing more
than anything that's stated off the cuff
But it's okay
There's no need to change
There's a boon to be misunderstood
Don't look behind me
nothing there to see
Moving straight only
Better reasoning
I'm here, tell me what you're looking for...
...A place where I am left alone
An 'inside' that wraps around me
Looking to the light above
a fire scorching down upon my face
With nothing but time
To manage my mind
So, if you listen close
things I say mean nothing more
than anything that's stated off the cuff
But it's okay
There's no need to change
There's a boon to be misunderstood

Yeah! Nice one, thank you so much. I just added the stems to my project and actually the second verse nearly fits to the 7/8 time signature. Not quite but nearly. So I'd say we'll finish the structure and then re-record what's necessary.

under download button should be flac file for each stem. This is actually a version with added a little bit, but I can snip the added fragment and render it in earlier version if it's too meh.

Thanks, zeekat!
Really lovely addition to the song. It won't be easy to mix, though. A lot of noise going on with the guitars and synths
Will try to come up with a structure next week and upload the stems so you can all jam to it
