White noise blast when focus lost (SOLVED)
Recently installed the 5.35 update
Use tascam US-16X08
When I open Reaper, and start editing, everything seems normal.
Anytime Reaper loses focus, after about 5 seconds, I get a blast of white noise over my interface that will not stop until i go back to reaper and the tracks appear "online" again.
This also happens when I render the project.
It seems to be somehow causing an error when it lets go of the audio device. I do not know how to check that.
If I do not open Reaper, this does not happen. If I completely close Reaper, this does not happen. That is why I think it is an issue with how reaper handles the audio channels when it loses focus.

When you say "loses focus" What program(s) are you switching to?
This sounds more like an issue between something grabbing audio focus and doing something weird before Reaper gets it back.

There's an update from 3/1:
http://tascam.com/product/us-16x08/downloads/
Have you tried that?

Cyrano, I will check when I fire up tonight.
Ivansc, It is anything I switch to. If I want to open up file explorer and browse a directory for something it happens. If I open a browser to look up something, if I render tracks and the render screen takes focus, it happens. If I open up a media player to preview a sample, then it does not happen. That is why I think it has to do with the way that Reaper handles the audio device when it idles/loses focus/off lines tracks.
One thing I have not tested is if it does this when there is exclusively MIDI tracks. (Nothing I have is like that.)
So i will goof on that tonight.

There seems to be some hope in the driver update's ReadMe. Not that they mention noise bursts, but there's a fix for some "stop" command.

It happened to me the other day, but I did accidentally start a second REAPER instance, and this one had the Close audio device when stopped and application is inactive activated. And not in the first instance. And I think both having different sample rate. I don't know if that could be the reason. how do you have this setting?

"Pre-zero output buffers" might help too (Preferences/Audio/Device).

Replying to all:
Thank you for your help and suggestions. I took all of them. Firmware updated, drivers updated, turned off close devices. prezero output buffers.
I am happily typing this as I let Reaper rest in the background. No white noise bursts.
Thank you again. There is a reason I keep using Reaper!
Love you guys!
