Visually selecting a single track?
I'm trying to make the switch over from pro tools to reaper
I'm loving how fast reaper loads and how it seamlessly can change buffersize without crashing something pro tools cant seem to do right. Also my theme I got for reaper looks so cool I can't wait to start working.
My problem, maybe a personal problem, maybe fixable? I can't stand the selection in reaper how I have to select everything from top to bottom. Even though its just visually it drives me crazy how much I hate it. I don't think I can get over it TBH, please tell me there's a way to change it?
Thanks for any help in advance!

Sorry, this might just be me, but I don't understand what you mean here. Could you explain more fully please? Thanks!

I think the OP might be referring to Ctrl+click (or the Mac equivalent), like you would use in a file browser to select one additional file.
If that's the case, uh, it's Ctrl+click here as well.

Yeah, that might be it, but at the same time I'm puzzled that he says he can't just select a single track???

I think he might be referring to how an edit selection in Reaper selects across all tracks top to bottom in the TCP (then you click on the items you want to edit), whereas in Pro Tools you can make an edit selection across a single track only. I found that hard to get used to when switching as well....if that's what he means!

Again, I might be getting the wrong end of the stick here, but if he just wants to select all items on a single track, just double click on track panel.

I bet it's the thing where time selection and item selection are linked in Protools. It is intuitive right on the surface.
Look into the mouse modifiers in Reaper preferences.
For example, I use left-click-drag makes both time selection and marquee item selection and right-click-drag is marquee item selection only.
That will let you dial in something comfortable for you right away. The ability to make separate time selection from item selection is actually a really welcome upgrade over Protools. I was a happy Protools user for about 15 years before upgrading to Reaper. Couldn't imagine going back now!
