Default Collaborating with song writer in another state???

Hey guys,
I have searched and have not really found a yes or no answer to my question? What I need to know is:

Can I take a project that has drums (via Addicted Drums) and a Bass track, and Guitar track and save the project go to it's location and then save that folder, and send it via email to another person in another state so that we can collaborate on songwriting?

We both use google drive.
We of course both use Reaper
We both use Addictive Drums

I tried sending him just a drum track and one guitar track but when he gets it it only shows the drum track and says offline? Iam saving as suggested here in a sub directory file but this does not work for me unless I'am just doing so wrong?

We are wanting to write songs together and I know that there is a way to do this, just need some 5th grade mentality here as how to? Any help be be very appreciated!!! Thanks!

I collaborate with a friend who's 1500 miles away all the time. We just send each other MP3s of the whole mix from our side, let the other person create new tracks, then post the new tracks as wave files where the other person can get them.

The first two songs at my Soundclick page were done like this. I started the projects with bass drums and guitar, then sent my friend an MP3. He added keyboards and guitars then put them up on the web as wave files, where I could download them. I grabbed them and imported them into Reaper, just dragging and dropping them onto empty tracks. Once I have all the files, I mix and master it, and I'm on to the next one. My friend also uses Reaper, but we've never tried getting the actual project from one person to the other. We always have just imported MP3s as a reference track to add more parts to.

I've done this quite a bit, and it works fine. Assuming the media files are saved in the project folder, you can just save the entire folder to a central location (we use Dropbox), where it's available for somebody else to pick up, modify, and save back. Even when some of us are on Windows and the others are on Mac, it works flawlessly.

The only time we have problems is when one of us has a plug-in that the others don't. In those cases, we freeze the affected track up to the point of that plug-in, and then everything works fine from there.

I never used it for a long while .. but as far as I remember there's a setting in Project Settings to include all project files in the Project Folder. Or similar. That might be worth mentioning here. Maybe someone else can give exact details?

There's a free solution that doesn't require screwing around converting to mp3 or making stems if you don't want to.

Mega.nz offers free 50GB accounts. There's no reason to play with the free 2.5GB accounts anymore. Now you can just throw the .rpp file and all the audio files in a folder (assuming they don't total more than 50GB) and share it. Subfolders are supported.

I would still recommend using FLAC (if you're not already) for any network transfers for the built in checksum and the reduced size.

This method has worked well for me too. But i suppose if both parties wanted a hand in all of the composing elements, you'd want to be able to share a project.
