Default Mary did you know? Acoustic cover

I was alone at home on the 26th, with my wife and kids out skiing..

So instead of sitting on my hands, I decided to record one of my favorite Xmas songs..

Recorded in one take, my guitar in DI and my mic. period.

I mixed, mastered and edited the video in REAPER.. That thing is actually getting pretty solid for video editing!

Aside from me gulping quite audibly in a quiet moment, is there something you'd do different with the mix?

I'd coincidentally ran across a guy performing that song on Facebook a few days ago. Great song...

It is indeed a great song..

It was originally written by Mark Lowry, and pretty much everybody and their brother has sung it.

I just sang it like I felt it..

Damn, you can sing
never heard the song, so I cannot compare.
Really great.
So the guitar is DI only?
Great sound. What guitar is it?

Sounded good all around. Good job on the vocals.

It's a 35 years old Yamaha FG200D. Those things are usually Uber cheap in pawn shops, but sound amazing when cleaned up
.. the action is pretty high though.

I installed a Fishman rare earth blend in it.. I was pretty nervous when I drilled a hole in, but it was worth it.. She sounds pretty good when I'm too lazy to mic her...which is often

The vocal condenser mic picked it up a bit, and gave it's high end an ear pleasing "sheen"..

I kind of let it bleed in the vocal mic on purpose . Thanks man!
