Default Reaper suddenly freezing (SOLVED)

Have been using Reaper X64 4.62 since release, worked great until tonight, I go to open it up and it gets to here and freezes, completely unresponsive, tried uninstalling and reinstalling but results are the same, 32bit version opens up just fine, able to reproduce consistently, all drivers are up to date, all hardware working perfectly in x32 version, tried rebooting, no change, I'm really stumped, haven't changed any settings on my machine or in reaper since last session, once it freezes I have to use task manager to kill process, I let the wheels spin for 30 minutes and nothing happened, see attatched, don't know if anyone else has ran into this.

Running 4.62 64 bit here on W7 w/ no problems.

Every time I've had a freeze issue a vst has been the cause. Maybe temporarily "disconnect" your vst folder(s) (re-name so reaper doesn't see them) to rule that in or out?

Have you tried right clicking and choosing "Run as Administrator" to see if that gets you anywhere?

Sorry... that's all I got.

Good luck.

you could try this:

whatever is the vst folder that you have reaper 64 pointed at to scan, ...rename that folder... like put XXXX in the first part of the name...

see if reaper starts up ok now

IF not... then I'd suspect a corrupted reaper.ini file.

Is there a chance that there is another smaller window (waiting for input) open behind the Reaper window...try Alt-Tab.

Default re: update

Tried the suggestions(thanks for responding guys), but was able to narrow it down a bit, since I open Reaper without any project loaded I figured it probably wasn't tied to VST issues, so since I keep the 32bit version 4.62 installed as well tried to export Reaper configuration.zip from the 32bit version, then on the windows program menu chose reset Reaper to factory defaults and then once reaper was open import the config files but got the same results hangs on initializing main window, so went back and reset to Factory defaults imported all but the .ini files and it opened without any problems, so then I started putting my set up back to how I originally had it, importing custom actions and toolbars etc. and that's when I noticed that there was one thing missing from the toolbar docker at the bottom, I usually have tabs on tool bar docker on bottom for track manager, media explorer, project manager, mixer and wait...I was missing performance meter, so went to view and performance meter and INSTANT FREEZE!!! went back after killing process with task manager reopened Reaper tried to add performance meter and got the same results again, so after killing process and reopening Reaper exported Reaper config file with performance meter not opened reset reaper to factory defaults, imported the new Reaper config.zip files and everything was normal again, oh and I forgot previously when I tried to open performance view and it froze I noticed it also happened to crash my Quad capture drivers, so it has something to do with performance view, never had that issue prior to Reaper 4.62 x64 and do not have the issue in 4.62 32bit, I don't if this means there is a bug or not but I was able to pack it all into 1 sentence at least...LOL, excuse while I go catch my breath. Oh also did not seem to have this issue with Portable version of Reaper 4.62 x64 either, if only I new what that meant.

Default re Reaper freezing

Finally got it working, uninstalled it again, this time I clean all of the Reaper x64 registry entries then reinstalled, everything is working normally again, no clue what was causing the issue, stress level greatly reduced.

I'm glad that you've got it working.

But Reaper does NOT use the Registry. Can you recall what was deleted from the Registry?.

Default re: Reg Entry

According to Reaper web site this should be the only entry I believe, see attatched
