Get the error: Unable to start program 'C:\Program Files (x86)\vsthost\savihost.exe', when

trying to debug a IPlugEffect duplicated project.

Hey man, it's pretty simple. You're building the VST version. To run it, VC++ looks for a program to run your VST in. By default it's set to 32-bit program folder - that is, on 32-bit Windows, C:\Program Files\vsthost\, on 64-bit - as it says - C:\Program Files (x86)\vsthost\.

TL;DR what I need to do? Get this http://www.hermannseib.com/programs/savihostx86.zip and put the .exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\vsthost\ and it will work like a charm. Hope it helps!

SAVIHost.exe needs to be placed in the SAME subdirectory as the VST .dll you want to run standalone. If the .dll is 32-bit, you need the 32-bit version of SAVIHost. Same with 64-bit.

For example, if I want to run Drumper2-3.dll standalone, I would copy the 32-bit version of SAVIHost.exe to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugIns

where the .dll is located, and then rename SAVIHost.exe to Drumper2-3.exe. Then just run the renamed .exe.

On the other hand, could just skip using Savihost too and use for example Reaper instead.

Kind of odd the default plugin project has an executable set in the VS project that might not be installed on the developer's system.
