MIDI Capture Recording please!
MIDI Capture Recording please!
Very very useful thing!
Like Logic Pro X and Ableton Live 10:
"Introduced “Capture”: a new way to get music into Live, without the stress of recording. Live now always listens to MIDI input on monitored tracks (i.e. armed tracks with the monitoring set to “Auto”, or unarmed tracks with the monitoring set to “In”). Pressing the “Capture” button creates a Session clip that contains the last phrase played, without any need to activate recording or playback beforehand. Live plays back the captured loop immediately, ready for you to add more material."

Hi,
I think there was a script that did this. I think its called retrospective record. It even did audio if I remember correctly.

hi,
I also hope they implement this! It seems this has been a request for a while; in the meantime I quickly tried this script (for MIDI) and it seems to work:

eugen2777 who did above script doesn't seem to be active on the forum (currently) anymore.
You may try this one instead:

Simpler is doing 'gap analysis', any gap bigger than x seconds starts a new 'last'. x could be 1 bar for example. This would be my prefered solution, auto date stamping those, saving somewhere, then if not used after bigger than z megabytes, those would be overwritten again. So your 'last recording directory' would consume at maximum z megabytes.

I might have found a little bug in it tho, my midi item is now autoset to loop source even tho I don't have that set in the settings
