Default "Item: Explode multichannel audio or MIDI to new one-channel items"

i have a 20-channel WAV... i've decided multi-channel audio is not for me... i want to explode this multi-channel file into multiple mono files... at the same time, i'm converting to FLAC, having set "Format for Apply FX, Glue, Freeze, etc." to FLAC...

"Item: Explode multichannel audio or MIDI to new one-channel items" seems to be the command that will do what I want, except:
  • it misidentifies the tracks/files: first track/file is called something like "meta-data", but it's just the audio from the first channel, and then the next track/file is called "channel 1" even though it's the audio from channel 2, and so on and so on to "channel 19" which is (supposed to be) the audio from channel 20... this isn't so much of a big deal as i plan on at least renaming the tracks in reaper, if not the files themselves...
but...
  • there is no audio on the 20th track, just a silent file

any advice?

Yeah, its odd for stereo files even. You end up with a group containing tracks called "meta-events" and "chan 1" (but no empty track). I wonder is this is a bug?

This should be fixed in the v5.78 release:
Quote:
+ Multichannel audio: properly name single-channel items after "explode by channel" action [t=203560]

the track template in the attachment should do what you want.

- set the project media /glueing format to wave. Place the multichannel file on the first track

- make sure that the time selection matches the length of what you wanna have exploded

- make sure to have the first track de-selected

- select all other tracks below it (from the track template) and trigger the action "SWS/AW: Render tracks to mono stem tracks, obeying time selection"

20 new tracks with the separated mono channel content will be created.
