We do have GUID functions in ReaScript - they don't work at the moment though

Perhaps the Cockos folks themselves should add a way to add an FX or FX Chain to all the selected items, by means of holding a modifier after you've already grabbed the fx or fx chain(from the fx browser or another item).
For example it could be as simple as click and dragging the fx/fx chain, then holding SHIFT and dropping them on to one of the selected items, and presto, it gets added to all the selected items.
In this case it would be important to NOT open the fx chain of those items of course. That might overcrowd the screen and give the user lots of windows to close.
Also, the item selection would need to stay alive, so users can 'Render as new take' or 'Apply Fx' those items if they so choose.
Perhaps it is best that Cockos do this. We can't hook in to click+drag, then hit modifiers, then drop something on top of an item, and then perform the function we need with the help of the API yet, right ?

Not in ReaScript certainly.

Might have the wrong end of the stick here but if you right click an items fx box you can choose a chain to apply to it plus you can drag that item's fx icon to other items to copy it (i think it can be done to lots at once too by having them selected, it's in the manual somewhere).
Also xenakios /sws extension has a function for searching items where you can enter a name and it will find them all. Then you might be able to drag the fx chain from the browser on to all the selected tracks at once. Not perfect but not too bad.
Again, if i've misunderstood this, sorry

oh, yeah, good catch mbn! "SWS/Xen Search takes..."
Just discovered that one (didn't search for "search"!) and it has some interesting options, mapped it to Ctrl-F, normal.
Thanks, I was about to commit a double in the opensource.

glad I saved you some time! I would love it if it could be adapted so as you search it would trigger a zoom to selected which would then pan out or in to show you your found selection.

Man, just once I don't search the action list and boom, it's there.
Sucker.
About the Add FX Chain to selected item(s) thing, it can't be done with what we have right now.
Adding a chain to an item only works for one or the first selected item. So that's not here yet.

No. No preset slots, no actions. Unlike Nuendo actually.

why do you need preset slots needed in order to do it?
simply add the chain preset as is, why can't it be possible?
like
Custom action: Add "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\REAPER\FXChains\__Reverb__\Reso room.RfxChain" to selected item/track.
sure not possible?

So far I haven't found a way. It's important that this is easy to set up as well, so you don't have to be a coder to pull this off.

You have to look around a bit, but there are plenty of nice little Grimmies around.
SWS, here are some requests for the media thing you're doing:
- Columns for Take name, BWF chunk description and originating timecode
- Splittable window or more than one, so more than one Bin can be accessed at a time.
- Loadable/Savable Bins(including the project Bin)
- Live filter search, similar to FX browser
Advanced functions : - Export selected as files
- Copy all files not in project directory TO the project directory and change references for all items that use them
- =edit= Waveform view and selectable range for drag'n'drop to arrangement =edit=

One more thing.
Having the items themselves, not just the source files accessible would be the basis for the "Export Selected As Files", and those would need to be rendered as if it was 'Rendered As New Take'. In other words including fades. Not sure this is feasible yet, but that's why it's in the advanced requests.

Additional ideas. This one was inevitable :
Sequences
Like this :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGayEYqc0r0&fmt=18
(library part from 2:13 to 3:40)
This isn't their idea either. AudioVision had this exact same thing, including the sequence/item editor, so it's way over 10 years old.
Useful for lots of things. Some folks would want the timing of sequences to be in Reaper time(seconds), some in bars and beats so their musical material is usable in more than the originating speed.

Hi Tim, hope things are good!
Had a quick idea I'd thought I'd leave here just in case you like it.
In protools when a track clips it also changes the track label to red in the tracklist to indicate the clip.
As a toggle feature this could be really cool not sure if you can get into the clip info and get it to tell your track list when a track clips and use this to indicate a clip function on your tracklist?
Also do you think you'll be able to find a way to have a set of markers pasted at the edit cursor instead of their original position? this would be great as we could use markers as groove templates.
Lastly, any goodies coming up? I check your page most days anything for the media pool, that thing has uber potential!
