Default Analog Obsession Yala

I was directed to this developer by PinkNoise. I'm really glad I did.

This is a free emu of the Altec 436c/EMI RS124. I've only used it on a couple things so far, but I'm enjoying it. It's unique.

I needed another vari-mu like a hole in the head, but this does do an interesting thing.

I'm not certain what knobs do what, but I'm guessing Atten is GR, Volume is Makeup Gain. Release is self-explanatory.

I'm most confused by the Threshold set screw. It's not like the threshold on a DBX 160VU. It's super sensitive, I'll say that. Turn it slightly to the right and the needle slams.

The zip file is strange, but it's cool. The individual dll folders are zipped as well is all.

Yes...I will try again (Yala unzipped fine but I never got as far as installing it today because the two that failed put me off). These plugins do look as though a lot of care has gone into development.

I have now successfully unpacked and installed vst2 32bit versions of YALA /DELA/ Rare.
I could possibly find a use for pultec emulation Rare.

It is interesting tonally. It's essential to the Beatles tones. The Fairchild was used much less than we think.

I like that it's unique compared to the Bill Putnam compressors. They sound entirely different.

I've read a few gearslutz threads on this plugin and they've included aspects of the original Altec as well as the EMI RS-124 mods.
