I wish for heavy Reafinements on MIDI, such as those mentioned in this thread:
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=85251
I won't be upgrading to v5 unless there are some time-saving MIDI features added within the 4.x cycles. Everything else non-MIDI is wonderful!

double points
How about an option to click in double points close together when editing volume etc?
Instead of having to place single points all the time...

a new user here , i'll start with a short wishlist :
1-Input Monitor that is not a record arm button,
it should first let the input come in and be heard,
then the record arm only enable record from selected input/source,
i don't know why it's the way it is now but that's just crazy... enbaling record arm to disable record with the menu ... ?!?!?!
2-Midi Clock Slave option, why can't i use my HW controller to change tempo?!
3-all the midi editing stuff ... didn't dig deep into yet , some are really good and easy some are just , too far away in the menus...
there are some more stuff to add , but listen guys the Pluses are great ++
i really enjoy working the reaper stuff, keep up

That's never made sense to me either. I've gotten used to it, but I'm not a fan.

I really can't think of anything else that I can't work around in Reaper. Thanks for asking!

My vote is for this. Seems to be the only major component missing that all of the other (pro Tools, Sonar X1, even band-in-a-box and real band) have had for a long long time.

As a Sonar refugee I can say with some confidence that its notation features are supremely minimal (unless there was a TOTAL overhaul in X1, which I seriously doubt; apologies if I'm incorrect on that.)
Some people reportedly DO make good use of it. But the request for updated (and seriously usable) notation was one of the recurring topics on the Sonar forum.
I only have occasional and fairly minimal need for notation, but I still found what Sonar offered to be more trouble than it was worth.

1. +1 for any MIDI Editor enhancements.
2. Sure would love it if the PM windows could be pinned and/or docked!!!
3. Need ID3 tag support.

Remote Collaboration
The three things i'd like to see all speak to remote collaboration.
1) The ability to utilize a standard version control system (e.g. Subversion) for remote collaboration (upload and download)through an intuitive interface. This would be for offline collaboration.
2) The ability to utilize voice/video protocols for live collaboration. This should allow the signal source to be captured locally, and uploaded the repository in "wish" #1.
3) The ability to use other open source (development centric) tools for workflow management and project management (e.g. Trac).
In short.. the studio of tomorrow will be virtual, and the collaborative media storage will be in the cloud.

ruler
Had a thought
In the Render File Window
May we get a ruler underneath the wave file which shows regular spaced marks the length of the file?
I render when I wish to have a look at the EQ make up of the track I am working on and if there was a ruler I could focus in on high spots more quickly for further work.
Anybody else keen on this?

osc and live looping
osc sequencing, osc note parameters, osc eveloping, osc input. osc everywhere!
and uh, more live looping. I really don't want to become another ableton zombie but I'm hella jealous that they can make osc loops on the fly. =)

1. Full track midi editing
2. Area selection
3. Monitoring VSTi without record enabling (first selected track is monitored automatically)
