Soundtoys sale - usable in Reaper?
Aight, so the famous Soundtoys plugins are 50% off right now. Is it worth buying for us Reaper boys? I have heard some depressing things regarding compatibility...
I am mostly drooling over Decapitator. Anyone here using it successfully in Reaper?

Yes, but sometimes it goes crazy with the CPU usage when processing silence (I work around that by putting the tone generator JS plugin right before it in the FX chain).

I think a dither plugin might be better to stop denorm. Haven't noticed that issue myself but have had some projects crash on load from Decapitator and Echoboy. Have always been able to recover though.
OP it's a great bundle. I did a mix video using just the SoundToys bundle

I cannot imagine life without Echoboy. Just. Can't.
I purchased their bundle some time ago, and have had no issues with their plugins in Reaper or Studio One. Great stuff.
Go nuts with confidence.

I love their stuff and it all runs smoothly on my system.
There was a recent update with minimal fuss with the installs.
Bear in mind that it needs a dongle free ilok account to work.
I broke my fear and hate for that system to get it.
It is nothing to fear or a reason to not have it.
Peace

I use them all the time! Echoboy and Decapitator are almost on every mix! The Sie EQ is also nice and fits perfect on guitar busses or vocals. I also use Devil-loc for some parallel drums smashing. I'm really happy with them!
Some problems that I have noticed but I can live with them:
1)A fast freezing just for a moment at the opening of the plugin. So I have to be careful with the speaker levels because if I mix a little loud, this freezing sounds horrible!
2)Sometimes the midi learn for the tempo of the Echoboy doesn't sync to the tempo of the project so I have to re-write the tempo on the corresponding section of the plugin!
I wish for an official support in the near future!

Soundtoys are rock solid here, the whole package. I use them every single day on every mix. Not a single problem with them.

Thanks for the headsup. Finally pulled the trigger on this. The $155 upgrade offer from all the free plugins I already had was too good to pass up.
For me the distortion and modulation stuff are great options to have in film and tv mixes.

It's my favorite distortion box.
It reports its lag incorrectly to PDC. Put a JS time adjuster on the track with it set to -31 samples if you plan on doing parallel processing with it. (That's with 96k projects for me. Might want to do a quick test yourself.) Then disable Anticipative fx for any tracks using it.
Those little faux pas aside, it's not a problem even in projects with hundreds of tracks.
I use it in my live guitar rig setup too (Reaper based with amp sims and such). Make sure you assign the punish button to a foot switch. You'll like that.

Soundtoys have always be a must for me. Echoboy is Da truth and I CAN'T imagine my life without it.
BUT
Soundtoys is the Only plugins suite that have given me troubles in Reaper. Almost all Crashes I've experienced since having Reaper 5 years ago have been related to a Soundtoys plugin. I soooo wish I could have a way to track it down, but Reaper is not officially supported by soundtoys so I can't have support from them.

I have had crashing on rendering randomly with random SoundToys plugins. They tried to help, but nothing seemed to solve the issue.
They did mention that they don't officially support Reaper as a format, so if you do have problems with SoundToys plugins in Reaper, you should contact them and let them know that you are using SoundToys in Reaper and would like it to be officially supported.

What video adapter are you using and how up-to-date are the drivers?
I've heard a number of stories of plugin GUIs causing crashes with old drivers.

I've never had a crash with Soundtoys on Mac.
Like Serr, the incorrect PDC is a bit of a drag for parallel, but it renders perfectly in time. I should really email them about that...
