Default Config Ruined?

Hi,

I thought I would try a different theme I came upon called Reatraction v1.00. Downloaded the zip and dropped it on Reaper. Did not realize I should have backed up anything first!!

Is there no going back to how I had things configured?

Thanks.

That doesn't sound right ... what specifically has been ruined? What theme was it? Have you tried just going back to your previous theme (Options, Themes menu?)

It's called Reatraction v1.00.

Everything seems like it's been changed, the menus are completely different, the shortcuts are different.

I can go back to the regular Reaper 5 theme, but the menus are still different and the shortcuts I had are different, etc. This is Reaper version 5.965, btw.

To restore REAPER's default menus:

Options,Customize menus/toolbars

Select Main file from dropdown list
Click Reset button (at bottom)

then Reset all menus to defaults, Reset all toolbars to defaults.

I know of no way you can get back your custom keyboard settings if you had not backed them up.

You can restore REAPER to default settings though. Close the program.

If using Windows, from Start menu, scroll to REAPER, there is a sub menu, choose, Reset configuration.

Thanks!

So I assume any changes I had made are gone forever, right?

I believe so. Here is the thread with instructions for ReaTraction:

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=152012

I notice that he says:

"If you are already a reaper user, you need to backup your configuration files, because you are going to lose your settings."

That's what I get for skimming.

Ah well, luckily I hadn't done all that much configuring.

Lesson learned.

Thanks for your help!

You're welcome. Come back and ask more if you have a problem resetting things ....
