"Automation: write current values to time selection"??
Does it work for you? Here, just nothing happens...

Maybe I don't get how this action is supposed to work but I couldn't get it to do anything either.
(same with the other "write current value" actions btw)

Thanks for confirming this, nofish. This action would come in VERY handy with some plugins and especially "ReaControl to Midi" with some outboard synths. I just can't save each and every single parameter's state before I start tweaking...
Someone who had success using these commands maybe??? Or some idea how to use them??

It won't work if the automation is in the Read modes. One of the write modes has to be enabled, which is a bummer.

Ah thanks for the info.
Yes I also see no obvious reason why write mode has to be enabled for this.

It doesn't work with dragging points on the envelope. You have to change the value with a slider or knob in a write mode.

Seeing this thread reminded me of a thread I posted sometime ago which didn't seem to catch on by the devs.
Anyone interested in this ?

Pardon? Thanks, gofer, but: a "current value" is completely different from "changing the value" – I don't get this at all.

Although you are changing a value you will eventually let the knob/slider go at some specific value. That last sent value is seen as "current" if I am not mistaken.
So while "changing" is different from "current", you will dial in a new current value by changing.
I never messed around with these before seeing this thread, as I am more into drawing my automation than into recording them. I'd like these actions to work when drawing points as well and I'd like to see the restriction to a write mode fall.

Yes that's it. I found the same when messing around with this.
Weird behaviour though imo, I expected to be "current value" defined as where the play cursor is. Showstopper if you have to wiggle the slider first I think.

Exactly what I first expected as well when reading the action's names. Place the edit cursor and where it crosses the envelope is where that "current value would be taken from. But that's not at all what it is.

Well, ok – so this action does not do what it sounds like
Does anybody know of an action to save the current settings as a kind of snapshot to automation lanes? Probably limited to the visible lanes though, cause some VSTi's would just generate 200 or more lanes...
