Default Auto Crossfade on Split problem

Hi all

I'm seeing an odd problem with Auto Crossfade on split. I set it to an unusually high value of 1 second (for testing something), but the crossfade length is not right.

Weirdly, the more zoomed in I am, the shorter the crossfade is - it's like it's drawing the crossfade to occupy the same number of pixels on the screen, rather than the length of time set in the Preferences......?

It also seems to behave in this odd way with a much more "normal" length of crossfade (0.1s - still longer than I would normally work with, but plausibly useful). The actual length of the crossfade created depends on the View Zoom resolution when I split.

Is there some odd setting I might have which could cause this, and can anyone replicate it?

Also, is it normal behaviour that the crossfade STARTS at the split point, rather than being symmetrically aligned either side of it?

Thanks

Sorry for the Bump, but is no-one else seeing this behaviour? Or just nobody's checked....?

Come on, this is driving me mad now!

The AutoCrossfade on Split preference does NOT change the length of the fade to the correct time when I split an item....

Mac OS Sierra, Reaper 5.62

PLEASE ANYBODY???? I'm hoping there's some setting I can change to make this work.

Default crossfade

there you go obviously not geeky enough and doesn't give people the opportunity to show off so no answer. I can't even get a crossfade into Reaper for unknown reason

@andy
Indeed, the Auto-Crossfade at split feature seems to be zoom dependant, when your zoom level is high

Very weird.

If someone else confirm you will surely be able to open a bug report thread in the dedicated section.

This is the usual behavior in REAPER, but the request is valid. Though, this is not a bug, so let's focus on first issue.

The good is news is that I have a workaround for you for both issues :
SWS/AW: Fade in/out/crossfade selected area of selected items

First deactivate the autocrossfade (but it to your desired length in the preference) and then:

You can of course create your own custom actions.

Hope it helps

OK, thanks - at least I'm not going mad then!

As you say, very weird.... :-)

I'll check out your Action and see if I can make it work for me. Thanks

It is in sws extension :P

Can you please open a thread in the Bug Report section explaining the first issue with the screenshot ?
Title: Bug: Autocrossfade at split is zoom dependant

The second issue is more like a feature request.

Thanks !

It should be noted though that this action, and some other SWS crossfade actions, currently don't work correctly when used with takes containing stretch markers. In this case these actions unintentionally move the item content.

This is currently being worked on in SWS.

As possible alternative, also mentioned in that thread, maybe amalgama's Smart crossfade script.

(edit:
Though I haven't looked how exactly this script works.)
