Default Too many windows

The other weekend out of curiosity and to see how effective 'session views' were I tried out Live 9. 2 days later I was back with Reaper, too many things that were a pain with Live 9 and tbh, Playtime, which I have now bought, does a damn good job replicating 'session views'. The one thing I liked about Live 9 though was that I didnt end up with dozens of plugin windows everywhere, just the one I was working on, so I thought I would set about fixing this in Reaper. My plan was to make use of the docker and have plugin views docked in the docker so that when I click on a track it opens in the docker and the previous one closes. This is sort of working but it is too easy to accidently hit another track tcp by mistake if you want to say adjust a fader or enable recording and all of a sudden the plugin view has swapped. So is there anyway that you can fix it so that you can swap the plugin view in the docker by only clicking the 'Fx' button on the TCP rather than anywhere on the body of the TCP. Same applies to the mixer. I have just gone over all the preferences and cannot find anything.

Thats what I thought but wasnt 100% sure, thanks for clarifying. The other thing that would be useful as an alternative would be the ability for all opened plugin windows to be available via tabs on the docker so that when you opened a new plugin window the old one becomes a tab on the docker.

I don't love docking the FX stuff
I prefer to either use the MCP set up as a 'track inspector' to the left of the TCP... which let's you open and close your FX from there nicely... or to use Heda's VIP Track Inspector... which also can be docked left or right of the TCP and let's you get at your FX nicely....

I found some REAPER actions which you might find helpful.

You'll need SWS Extensions for REAPER to use these actions (it's free):
http://www.sws-extension.org/

Search the actions windows from the top-level Actions menu for "fx window".

-------------

Additionally, I wish you could snap plug-in windows together just like WinAMP's windows. Then, if you moved one of them, they'd all move in unison.

Close one of them, and they'd all close (with an optionally enabled preference to do so.)
