Default Changing Reaper resource path?

I like to store everything related to my music project on my SSD drives, projects, templates, samples etc.. this way I can just back them up by cloning the drives to my backup HDs.

On my system (Win7 64) Reaper stores its preset and templates under:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\

And I'd like it to be stored in say H:\DATA1\REAPER

It doesn't look like there's anywhere in preferences to change this. I know I can just save things where I want, but then I loose the menu functionality of selecting previously saved templates for example, and every time I elect to save or load something Reaper will start at C:\Users\USERname\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\ so I have to navigate all the way back.

Can this be changed somewhere else?

When you install Reaper, there's an option that comes up called 'portable install' (or similar). This means that ALL possible Reaper files will be in a folder of your choice (for carrying on a USB stick etc).

So do that on the drive you want and it's all done. Added advantage is that not only will all your project files be backed up but Reaper too with all your settings etc.

Alright great, I'll do that, Thanks.

I love programs that just lives in a single folder, like pegasus mail.. wanna backup? Just copy the main folder, done.

Totally agree. Wish I knew about Reaper's portable install option before I installed as now I have folders here and folders there which is a pain when finding things or backing up like you say.

On one Win 10 PC (a test installation with no license key installed) the resource path is not "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\REAPER", as it should, but its "Program Files\REAPER (x64)".

I already did uninstall and install (not "portable") Reaper.

It once seems to have been normal as "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\REAPER" does contain valid files, which now are not used any more..

How to get this back to normal ?
